Are the plans to still see what kind of development spurs on the Commons itself or are the plans to preserve it now that it's open? In a perfect world to me, it would seem ideal to keep the park as it and invest/promote development in every direction stretching from the park. More can be done south and west of the park for sure.
The plan is to fill in 3 of the 9 acres of Columbus Commons at a later date when the right development opportunity arrives.
All of the land located immediately west of the park is already built upon. There are quite a few solid retail opportunities through there, and I think we might start seeing them filled in soon (MoJoe is already coming soon, and the new Huntington Bank is already open).
To the south is the Parking Garage. Not sure if much can be done with that. I think Casto still owns that flat lot strip next to it facing High Street. There were plans to build upon it long ago, but it was axed.

Personally, I am glad Columbus stepped back from another grand project and built something on a smaller, more modular scale that can grow over time.
Seeing as the rendering up top was three separate buildings, they could be added slowly and built up over time. I do like the design though. Lots of intricate details in the design work.
