All kidding aside, I can't see how this WON'T be used as ammo against Coleman in the Gubernatorial race.
Of course, Dubya's various misadventures didn't stop him from being elected TWICE, so I guess you never know...

Well, it wasn't him. It was his wife. Perhaps she conceled from him how tanked she was when she got in the driver's seat.

0.27 is so dangerously wasted...it's like boarderline have your stomach pumped drunk.

I realize it wasn't him, but unfortunately that kind of thing gets used in smear campaigns anyway... "How can he be tough on drunk driving when his OWN WIFE DOES IT?" , family-values smears, etc... All crap, yes, but still, they get out there.

I agree with you but I think all of those crazy smear campaigns shouldn't be allowed. They don't do much but take things out of context with scare tactics.

Scare tactics are as American as apple pie... good luck getting rid of them.

The video of this is pretty entertaining - she's obviously completely wasted. Didn't realize what was going on at first, thought she was talking on her cell phone when she wasn't... kept asking police what was going on (while denying that she'd had anything to drink). Finally she says "I was just driving...then all of a sudden - BOOM!"
Funny stuff.

Also mentioned on the news about this -- apparently earlier this year Coleman's top campaign advisor was convicted of drunk driving as well.
Sounds like the mayor runs in a fun crowd!

Maybe if we had better public transportation, people wouldn't need to drive home more plastered than an entire post-Michigan frat party. Could be spun for a policy initiative!

ha, good point gramarye! And while this shouldn't affect his campaign it probably will in some way.
Anyone have links to video? Smoking gun perhaps?

The original link I gave has the video clip...

It was nice of her husband to pick her up.

It sure as hell was, and you know if any of us "lesser" people got caught drinking and driving we would have spent the night in jail sobering up! Hmm... maybe my husband should get into politics! Anyway onto the reason for this post! This was in the other paper regarding Coleman's wife.
"We could be poisoned at anything above .20 or .30," he said, adding that college-aged kids who drink themselves to death generally die at .2 or .25.
But the higher your tolerance, the more drinks you need to be severely impairedâ€â€which is why cops sometimes, albeit rarely, arrest people who blow .3 or .4, Fell said.
"Experienced drinkers can get up into the .3's before they would be poisoned," he said. "It can happen, and those people obviously have been very tolerant of alcohol."
Key words to me "... those people obviously have been very tolerant of alcohol." I'll tell you what. I drank during my senior year in high school, A LOT! By the time I graduated I would drink 4 wine coolers and a couple shots of vodka before I would even get tippsy. That woman either has a high tolerance or partied really hard that night!
