It seems to me that I notice on here, that a lot of people are married. Out of my friends i have four that are married. It feels weird because people are getting married and it is really weird to me mostly because there is no way i could see myself being married anytime within the next ten years. It is not so much that I am against marriage, but I see myself as still being young and marriage is for old people. Is there anyone else that feels too young to be married? I have nothing against having a long time gf, but being married, and actually making it official seems like something that is so off in the distant future I never think about it.

Are you implying that all these folks should migrate from ColumbusUnderground to ColumbusOvertheHill.com?
:P
As of 2006, the median age of first marriage in the U.S. for men was 27.5 and for women was 25.9. Most people on CU have college educations (or are getting them), and the college-educated do tend to bring the median up, but nevertheless, not necessarily by that much. Given that we have a fair number of people on this site several years older than those medians, I don't think you should be so shocked to find so many people wearing wedding bands here.
(That said, I'm with you. I see myself still single at least in the 5-year timeframe. But you never know. Lightning could strike. At least, they tell me these things sometimes work like that. )

I am happily involved in a great relationship.
No way in hell I am getting married anytime soon. I'm 23. I believe 25 year old cyclist feels the same - though he has been "feeling older" recently.

LOL. I am not shocked at the fact of people wearing bands on here, as I am 27.5 almost exactly, I am more shocked at the fact that I am so immature, that I don't think about getting married, while others my age have already tied the knot and some are already divorced.

I am not opposed to the idea of marriage, but I can tell you that the notion of weddings makes me yack in my mouth a little bit.
apologies to any of my lovely friends on here planning weddings
I am always a fan of a good party, but I think it is more important to obsess over making a future and a good partnership with someone for the rest of your lives than obsessing over flowers, guestlists, and bridesmaids dresses. That stuff gives me the weebies. I think when you are ready to marry someone, just do it already...spend that year you'd waste picking out flowers and music and start living your life.
I hope I don't get kicked out of the vagina club for that one...

Probably not...don't get all excited Chewla. You and I could start one though if you want. You get to work on the secret handshake and I'll get some tshirts made.

That's funny, for the longest time, I thought CU skewed more to the single guy catagory. :)

Ash, I basically had the same attitude in my 20s.
but now in my 30s, I have found someone who is essentially unimaginably perfect for me. if anything she's settling for me.
I think once you get the piss and vinegar out of ya you might have a different outlook on relationships.

I'm kinda freaked out that someone has put a wire tap in our house!!!!! WTF?!?

I'm getting married 4 days from now - wish me luck! I don't think I'm that old; 29 is still young (and yes, I really am 29, not the fictional type of 29).
To osulew - I skipped all of the bridesmaids/centerpieces/favors/personalized-magnets-with-your-wedding-date-on-them crap, and people are still coming to my event, so don't think have to do all that. All you need is good food, good music, and plenty of drinks.

I'm never getting married.
I've never had a real boyfriend in my life. Marriage is not even in question.

True story.
People have charged for worse wedding planning advice than this.

Not me. I'm already a crotchety curmudgeon and I'm just going to grow into an old crotchety curmudgeon. So I need to find someone who's cool with that. Oh, and with marrying someone with an advanced case of terminal nerdliness. :D

I hear ya on the good music, good food, and lots of drink thing...right now I call that Friday night.
I know there is middle ground that can be found between the big floofy barftastic wedding and doing nothing at all. And I think that ultimately people should do what makes them happy. As for me, I'm holding out for Elvis. :D
