Sacrilege!
Super MarioKart will remain one of the best games of all time. I could still play that for hours.

Mark me down as being extremely excited.
And I agree... I think the whole series has been one of the most consistent video games throughout the changes in systems. I have no reason to believe that this one will be any different.
I'm ready.

In my opinion, Mario Kart DS has been the best game in the series. It's a great mix of components from all other games with wifi multiplayer added in.
I'm going to have to say I'm a little skeptical about the wheel controls for the Wii. I've only played Excite Truck a little bit, but found it very hard to control using the WiiMote like a steering wheel. It seemed over-responsive and you need to have some pretty precise controls if you expect to beat the Mario Kart games on hard difficulty settings.
If the wheel controls aren't that good and just there for the casual gamers, I hope they include the option to plug in a Gamecube controller for this game (a la Smash Brothers) for people who want better controls. If that's the case then I'm totally sold.

does the gamecube controller have an advantage over the wii-mote + Nunchuk? for that matter, can you even use the nunchuk in this game?

Is the music on the first clip from the game? Sounds like it was composed by the same guy who did Sonic the Hedgehog, that weird Video-game Smooth Jazz. I'd play the whole damn thing on mute.

Yay, I'm excited! I just got a Wii for my birthday! It cracks me up to tell people I got "Wii'd" for my birthday.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a traditional controller is a bit better for precision controls. Perhaps I've just not played Wii enough to get used to it... and it is fine for casual gaming (Wii Bowling)... but in my experience in terms of precise controls:
Mouse > Console Controller > WiiMote

I always said screw the racing, battle mode is what makes these games fun and long lasting.

Not yet.

Well after playing that, I think the Wii has a big advantage over traditional controllers in FPS'. I actually thought Excite Truck controlled pretty well, so if its just a little bit better than that, I will be happy.

It definitely is something to get used to... but now when I go back and play Gamecube games... the controller seems counter intuitive.
Excite truck got fun when you learned the precision the controls offered... and first person games like metroid are awesome with the Wii mote.
But I'm probably bias.

^^ Not to mention, Resident Evil 4 is WAY better on the Wii (and was already an awesome game).
Being able to shoot the zombies like that reminds me of arcade style play, and I love it.
