I’m actually kind of getting excited by the prospect of a DC rapper becoming somewhat popular. Wale is nothing if not on some hometown pride. I don’t know what band is backing him up on this, but it’s promising how good his people have become at finding a midpoint between go-go and regular old hip hop. Maybe I’m being naive but I almost want to believe the hype. Bun rips it, though it would’ve been nice if he stayed a little closer on topic. And I was going to crop Jay out of the picture, but hey, that’s his voice on the hook, so it works out nicely.
This is from that new Seinfeld tape Wale’s about to drop. Poor Jeru.

You've heard of Amy Winehouse. You should have heard of Mark Ronson. If you haven't, here's a clue. He beat out Timbaland for the mac daddy award of them all at the Grammy's this year. Yup, Producer of the Year! Yeah, that's kind of a big deal. Timbaland is a beast. This is sort of like when Kanye outsold 50. It's another passing of the torch.
Well Ronson is Wale's producer, and is now signed to Mark Ronson's very hot record label Allido Records.
So if you think Wale... pronounced... Wah'Lay.... won't be the next Kanye West. That's fine. You'll be laughing at yourself later when you passed up the chance to meet this guy in person. Could you meet Kanye West in person now if you wanted to? Probably not. You still have the chance to meet Wale though.

how many people have came up to you wishing that they had gone to the kid sister show? now that she's all up on mtv and paying the bills without a day job, suddenly her music mysteriously is so much better. i mean, i have several friends who act like they were actually there. won't name names, but you know at least one of em ;)
kid sister continues to grind up, while wale is just gonna explode. shoot. if mark ronson or timbaland dropped my next album, i'd be an over night star. until i got caught pulling an ashley simpson that is.

i was actually thinking about getting Wale to sign some shoes for me to sell on ebay.... nike dunks of course, perhaps even a pair of vintage jordan 4's i have lying around....
but i gotta say, even though nike boots is like wale's most widely known song, that is not one of my favorites by him. i much prefer ice cream girl...

Wale has signed a joint venture deal with Mark Ronson's Allido imprint and Interscope Records. The product of Washington D.C. has made his presence known as an unsigned artist and received support from the likes of Just Blaze, Jay-Z and Bun B. According to Miss Info, Ronson will executive produce the forthcoming album and Pharrell, Just Blaze, Kanye West and 9th Wonder are all rumored to make contributions as well. In addition to Wale, Rhymefest, and R&B artist Daniel Merriweather are also under the Allido umbrella.
"Look at their track record," Wale says of Interscope. "Dre, Eminem, 50, Pharrell, Timbaland, Black Eyed Peas, Soulja Boy...and the list goes on." Wale and his management team cited Interscope's ability to understand his vision as the deciding factor in the signing.
There is currently no set date or title for the album, but Wale will be releasing his Seinfeld inspired "Mixtape About Nothing" very soon. More information on Wale is available in his DX Next feature, on his MySpace page and at http://www.walemusic.com

u will pay $10-$15 to say a big name DJ at lets say Sugar/Boma
but wont pay $15 @ the door to see not 1 but many dj's performing to a mixed up genre.....
I'll be out by myself solo just to check this event.
