A man accused of using his vehicle as a weapon while fleeing a restaurant tab in the Short North pleaded guilty today to aggravated robbery and aggravated vehicular assault.Michael A. Rose, 43, of the Northwest Side faces up to 32 years in prison when he is sentenced Dec. 8 by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge John A. Connor.
Rose frowned occasionally but otherwise showed no emotion as prosecutors described how he drove his Jeep Cherokee over the co-owner, an employee and a patron of Haiku restaurant when they tried to stop him from leaving a parking lot without paying his dinner bill on May 15.
Bartender Rachel Widomski, 28, is paralyzed below the waist because of spinal-cord injuries when she was hit. Co-owner Julie Liu, 49, was hospitalized with a severe concussion, broken ribs and a broken collar bone. Todd Sandler, a patron of the N. High Street restaurant, sustained road rash when he was knocked across the pavement.
