If you haven't heard of Lulzsec you must be actively ignoring all technology-related news, because their recent ballblazing hacks and DDoSes against high-profile targets (e.g. Fox, Sony, The CIA, The US Senate) been covered everywhere from Reuters to Gawker.
I'm guessing they just wardialed potential phonewords across all the area codes until they found an unsecured PBX (i.e. almost any PBX), but there's always the chance that Thom is just trying really hard to get arrested.
Anyway the point is, I feel a little bad for whoever ]at Global Crossing is in charge of maintaining that exchange, but on the other hand Lulzsec is the best thing to happen in computer security since Thomas Ptacek quit blogging.
