My daughter and I have been in residence on E. Maynard for 10 days, and we're still unpacking and organizing, but I'm already touched by the sense of community here.
Yesterday, my daughter and I were walking to the bus stop to go grocery shopping. The people on our block introduced themselves and invited us to an 8 p.m. movie in their backyard. And we went, and under the harvest moon we watched El Mariachi and became acquainted with our new neighbors.
Good people. I'm still in the midst of settling in--our place isn't fit for visitors yet--but backyard movies definitely make me like this block. Is that the new Welcome Wagon?
