Our Back to School rallies are held at our communities throughout the area each August. We distribute school supplies and backpacks to the children who live in our communities to ensure they are prepared for the school year. We also have a cookout, games, activities, DJ’s, and other community resources available so that all of our residents and their families can participate in the days’ events! Volunteers will help run the various activities, register attendees, prepare and distribute food and help pass out the backpacks and supplies. It’s a great community building event and a great way to interact with our residents. These are also great opportunities to bring your families, friends or co-workers along with you. Listed below are the dates and times that we will need volunteers for this year:
• August 4th 1:00pm – 3:30pm – Emerald Glen Apartments – 930 Regentshire Drive, Columbus, OH 43228
• August 11th 10:30am – 1:30pm – George’s Creek Apartments – 6300 George’s Creek Street, Canal Winchester, OH 43110
• August 11th 11:30am – 2:30pm – Pheasant Run Apartments – 2680 Orono Pike, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068
• August 18th 10:30am – 1:30pm – Framingham Village – 3333 Deserette Lane, Columbus, OH 43224
• August 18th 1:00pm – 3:30pm – Renaissance Village, 2626 Kenbridge Drive, Columbus, OH 43219
• August 23rd 4:30pm – 7:30pm – YMCA located next to Bending Brook Apartments – 3500 1st Avenue, Urbancrest, OH 43123
We also have another really fun option this year available to volunteers. If you are unable to attend the actual Rally but would like to be involved, we are in need of volunteers to help stuff the backpacks. Volunteers will meet here at our Main Street office downtown and will help put together all of the necessary supplies for each bag to be distrusted. We have three opportunities available for this event:
• Wednesday, August 8th from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
• Wednesday, August 15th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm
• Wednesday, August 22nd from 2:00pm – 5:00pm
We are still also in need of supplies at this time. If you or your organization would be interested in helping, please let me know! There is a full list of all supplies needed, our most urgent items at this time are folders, loose leaf paper (college and regular rule), 5 subject tablets, combination locks, tissues, glue, ball point pens (black, blue and red), glue sticks, pencil cases, highlighters and markers. Any items you would be able to contribute would be greatly appreciated.
