I'm looking for a worthy Scrabble opponent (slash adversary). I'm not good (I only get up to 300points per game on a good day) but I have been able to consistently beat all of my friends--I guess that makes them really not good.
Just when I thought I had someone to play with, they canceled on me. :( (I need to post in that pet peeve thread about people who make plans and cancel).
Is anyone looking for a fun casual game over a beer or something? Shoot me a PM!

Before the summer I was thinking about setting up scrabble tournaments at parks, like Clinton Como.
I only really play online, which is easier because it automaticly adds the points for you.
I'd be more than glad to play you online at yahoo games literati. We can do a 7 game series sometime, and perhaps later start this thing offline. LEt me know.
Online, I'm a mid 2000 rated player. I'd say my average points per game is around 270.

Ksquared and I were talking about a CU Meetup as a board game night again, and maybe we should get that idea going again. I think St. James Tavern and a couple of other places were more than willing to host us.

I play on Facebook occasionally, and there's a Scrabble Meetup up this way that I'll hit on occasion. And, of course, if it were at a CU board games meetup, I'd definitely be there for that (though there are always so many options to choose from at those ...).

There's an ipad version of Scrabble that's pretty fun if you want to play vs the CPU.
Playing online is a bummer cause it's just too tempting for someone to anagram their rack.

That's true. I've run across some cheaters in my time, but mostly I feel like I'm playing legit games.
I was playing this girl the other day. I was beating her by about 80 points with combinations. She was playing terrible, then out of the blue she gets 4 straight bingos. I thought it was complete bs. Especially because she was a higher rated player than me and it seemed like she didn't want to lose to someone she felt was inferior to her.

I don't think I encounter this too much, but because online games are seldom in real time (or at least the Facebook app is simply turn based), you do have all the time in the world to shift tiles around and look for the best place on the board to put words, so the scores are legitimately a little higher.

Lack of socializing and possibility of cheating are other reasons why I wouldn't play online.
I'd love to attend a Scrabble Meetup.
@mt448, did you note whether it was played or not? I'd rather have a Q than a Z. I get stick with Z occasionally.

@Lakee911. Yes, it was played each time that the person who pulled it won the game. I played Monday night, and damn! my friend pulled the Z....I tried my hardest, but I think she beat me 283 to 255!! And, she had the Z. I would rather have the Z...you need a U with a Q. I did have the Q the other night, and even QUART, then QUARTER couldn't save me. (also, my last name starts with Z, so I think it is a lil good luck).
