In the belief that a decent and affordable home is the cornerstone of family life and a healthy community, Homeport provides quality, affordable housing and related services to low-to-moderate income working households in Central Ohio. Through its activities, Homeport is a partner in building communities and enhancing the lives of residents.
We are looking to put together a GED preparation program at one of our rental communities in Southeast Columbus. It wouldn’t be a formal program, just a place for students trying to get their GED to come get help and prepare for the test. These would be residents living within our community, most likely teens or early 20’s but could also be older. We are looking for volunteers that could help teach prep classes in math, English, reading and writing for these students. We would like to do the class on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10-12 for about 6 weeks. This could vary some around the upcoming holidays. A part time teacher, retired teacher, or a teacher not currently working would be a perfect fit.
