I'm looking for someone to do a few jobs around the house, and since it involves electricity, I think I need somebody licensed. Anyone have a recomendation for someone who can install:
-- a chandelier
-- a ceiling fan
-- a programable thermostat?
And can anyone who's had that kind of work done give me idea of what that stuff costs?

I used Competent Electrical Services to do some work when I first bought my house (switch the chandelier, fix some reverse polarity outlets, fix some wiring issues with the AC). The work was fine...don't remember off-hand what it cost, but I don't think it was too bad.

I've worked with Stonerock electric in the past - steve stonerock is the sort of guy who will tell you how to do it yourself and not hire him, which makes him very trustworthy in my eyes. Anyway, his number is 575-2275 and you will generally need to leave a message and get a call back.

I've used Mighty Electric (http://www.bbb.org/centralohio/business-reviews/contractors-electrical/mighty-electric-in-columbus-oh-9000105) for quite a bit of work at the business.
Most of what you're suggesting is pretty easy to do yourself unless you need additional construction done at the same time (i.e. if your ceiling's not already setup for a ceiling fan.

You should try the thermostat yourself, it is really easy. kinda plug and play with your old mercury one, KINDA. You might need a drill to mount it and a screwdriver. the other stuff is easy if you have existing electric lines there and you are just replacing stuff, it's recommended to have a brace in the rafters for a fan. for an entirely new instal in which they have to run new wire and connect to a breaker box contact an electrician. I had a pretty good one instal a new main line and breaker box and also some new line when I bought this house, if you need I can find their info.
edit, looing at what you need done, it is basically homeowner stuff, I wouldn't worry about using a licensed person, unless you need new wiring connected to the box.

I am pretty much incompetent in all matters electrical, and I was able to install a programmable thermostat in fewer than 10 minutes. I imagine you could, too; if you didn't want to, I'd imagine that an electrician would be willing to do it as a part of another job. But really--you should try to do it yourself first! Easy or no, it gave me a measure of satisfaction to do it myself.

Thanks for the reccomendations!
I used to shock myself on a weekly basis when I was in high school, and am fairly comfortable with electrical work, but now that I'm a home owner I'm suddenly convinced I'll burn down my 100K investment and the insurance company will simply laugh at me.
It's all existing electrical; not sure about supports for the ceiling fan. I think I'll start with the thermostat.
(Actually, I'll start with figuring which breaker goes to which circuit -- the breaker box panel was missing when I bought the house, and I'm reluctant to play Russian roulette!)

Discovering the drawbacks to DIY; it assumes anything was done right the last time.
As the 13th owner of a 110 year old house, I'm discovering this is rarely the case...
Plus side is that the thermostat and chandelier are in -- but I'm calling somebody for the fan.
