All of a sudden my PS3 has stopped spinning up discs. Does anyone know of a good local place that does repairs? It's probably something easy, and if I can avoid sending it to Sony for 3 weeks/$150 I would like to.

find anything out?
mine has a new habit of reading dvds/blus just fine, but some games will take like 8 or 12 tries before it reads the disc.
there's a place on the eastside that fixed my 360, but it was a LOOOOOONG and painful process, so i'd rather find somewhere else if i can . . .

There's a guy that we at the store just started talking to about PS3 repair. His name is David Carter and his company's name is Console Salvation. Phone 740-272-8721.

I had my PS3 fixed at a place off of Brice Rd called Game Mechanic. The guy there did a fantastic job. I had the ylod! He fixed in like 5 days and gave me a 6 months warranty. It has been running strong now for 4 months and I play like 6 hours a day! ya, I know... get a life! lololO!
I looked up the number and it is 614-218-1122. Game Mechanic at 5891 Scarborough Blvd. It is in that small mall that used to have Video Trader in it.

I too had the YLOD on my PS3 about eight months ago. I originally took it to a guy in the Polaris area, but he couldn't fix it. I then discovered Play-N-Trade on Sawmill Road. I think they charge $100 for the repair. Unfortunately for me, they couldn't fix it either. Of course, it could've been because of the work the first guy attempted. The folks at Play-N-Trade are super nice. They ended up giving me $75 for my hardware. For all I know, they may have fixed it and resold it, but I'd like to think they're more ethical than that. Either way, I am without my backward compatible PS3 and have since purchased two slim versions. Good luck!

Just as an update, the fellow I mentioned above, David Carter is our PS3/360/DS/PSP technician at Super Game Team now. He's been doing a great job! So keep us in mind when you need PS3 repair or repair for most systems. 725-4987
