Local Hardware Stores, Are they dying off?

I've known for a long time that the Trustworthy hardware store on Grandview Ave / 5th Ave (fifth by northwest area) was closing, but now it actually looks like its going to be knocked down. I love local hardware stores and it really sucks that they are going to be putting a suburban Walgreen in it's place. Honestly there is Giant Eagle across the street and a CVS next to the Starbucks that is to be closed. (Grandview Hardware closed about 2 years ago)
I will always enjoy going to local hardware stores, but it seems they are on the way out. Anyone else feel this is sad about this turn of events?
(I love the fact there is still a hardware store downtown. Every time I see that place on Main I get really excited that it *can* exist downtown. Much props!)

"That place" on Main posts here, I'm sure he'll pop up soon to reply. I buy all my hardware stuff there, can't go wrong.

Aww, that's sad, I try to go to the Hardware Store, too...except, well, they kind of messed up my keys four times in one day. That definitely didn't make for a fun two hours. :-(

Many of the businesses in that plaza are relocating down the street to here:

I haven't heard about that Hardware Store though. Not sure if they are making the move there, or elsewhere. Anyone else know? This could be more of a matter of their space being sold out from under them instead of being a viable business type.

The other day I think I saw a Trustworthy Hardware next to Bistro 86 on Goodale Blvd.

I would like to hope they are moving into the old Grandview hardware store location. It really was a pretty good location considering how close it was to rather dense area surrounding it and old Arlington / Grandview was close as well.
I drive past the new commercial area (KRG) going to work everyday and I've seen no signs they they are moving there. I can only hope they don't shut down forever.

Trustworthy Hardware has indeed moved in next to Bistro 86 on Goodale. However, I am not sure when they will be open for business.

I'm close to the Zettler on 12th and while I am thrilled it's still there, I don't see how they are still in business. The location is SOOOO bad. Maybe all the people who will be buying the condos at Columbus Coated Fabrics will shop there, tho.

The Ace Hardware store at 1665 Parsons Ave is alive and well. In fact, when the Lowes moved in at Great Southern, they not only did not go out of business - they expanded!
I actually think they do well because it is convenient to people in the South End who don't have cars. It's either a short walk or bus ride away.

I am a big fan of Beechwold Hardware in Clintonville. They're really professional and helpful, they have reasonable prices and the place sort of reminds me of an old-fashioned general store.
