Nice! As I read through this review, all I could think about was how locals who claim “Columbus is a small town” or “there’s nothing to do here” need to read this. ;)

And that’s how sausage is made.

For what it’s worth, I’ve helped out with showing around some of the Experience Columbus’ guest writers, and I feel confident in saying that these people pretty clearly don’t write about the things that don’t capture their attention. If anything, the writers can often seem to approach things from a bit of a jaded point of view, as in, ‘you convinced me to come here, now you better show me something good!’. If they like what they see/experience, they’ll tell you. If they don’t – well, believe me, they’ll tell you that, too!

I’m a big supporter of the work EC has been doing to get journalists into town and experiencing the best of what we have to offer, and I really believe that just about everyone in the city should appreciate it as well.

Yup. It’s pretty common for travel writing to be comped or partially comped across all types of media (tv, newspapers, online, magazines, radio, etc). Hardly an uncommon thing.

If that disclaimer *wasn’t* included on that blog post, then there would be something to complain about. But he’s being honest with his readers. Most travel tv show viewers don’t even notice the “accommodations provided by” disclaimers buried in the end credits of the show.

Sure it’s common…..but this particular review is remarkably fluffy and reads like a commercial.

I found this blog post from last October, a month before you started this thread, drew. Part of last years’ Experience Columbus culinary outreach, this blog post is still timely and a great read, and is written in two parts.

Never heard of Teatro Naturale before now, but they’ve heard about our exploding coffee scene!
