Los Guachos was named best taco in the Midwest by Rachael Ray magazine, and one of the top 4 in the US (using their 'March Madness' bracket approach). Nothing's online yet, but here are some shots from the magazine itself:

I love it. And it reminds me I need to go see those guys.
Bacon like? Niiiiiiiiiice
Deserved accolades and good press for the Los Guachos team! It's 2 for 1 tomorrow at their related truck Taqueria el Fogoncito as well, something you couldn't find in Columbus 200 years ago.
Taco Drew, what I really want to know is, what compelled you to pick up and read a Rachel Ray magazine?

Well... I went to the Los Guachos restaurant on Bethel, and they handed it to me to show me the article. :-p
They also have their Maxim article posted on the wall there.
In retrospect it may not have been wise to cherry-pick the habanero slices out of the salsa, and load them into my torta. It is good, though. It does resemble bacon.
...and now that the info's online, we see that Columbus has been recognized as having 4 of the 16 best tacos in the Midwest. The noted trucks are Los Guachos, Los Potosinos, Los Chilangos, and La Popular.
Middlewest Spirits is named one of the world's five most high-tech distilleries.
The Urban Times sure seems to like the Short North.

"Special thanks goes to Experience Columbus for hosting me on this trip to Columbus, Ohio. All travel, accommodations, meals and tours were provided by Experience Columbus"
And that's how sausage is made.
For what it's worth, I've helped out with showing around some of the Experience Columbus' guest writers, and I feel confident in saying that these people pretty clearly don't write about the things that don't capture their attention. If anything, the writers can often seem to approach things from a bit of a jaded point of view, as in, 'you convinced me to come here, now you better show me something good!'. If they like what they see/experience, they'll tell you. If they don't - well, believe me, they'll tell you that, too!
I'm a big supporter of the work EC has been doing to get journalists into town and experiencing the best of what we have to offer, and I really believe that just about everyone in the city should appreciate it as well.
