Serious Eats on the Knead Burger (don't miss the author's response in the comment section):
Columbus, OH: Pat LaFrieda Burgers at Knead

I found myself a long way from home two weeks ago during a four-city taco tour throughout the Eastern part of the Midwest. Now if you've spent your life in New York and Boston like I have, the Midwest is an almost uncomfortably friendly place to be in. Waiters talk to you like old friends. Bartenders see you as family. Even the girl who checked my car for damage at the airport rental lot showed a level of friendliness that would have brought tears to my eyes had a service professional in New York exhibited it.

The Chicago Tribune on Japanese in Columbus:
East meets Midwest - Columbus, Ohio, offers more than the pedestrian in Japanese fare

COLUMBUS, Ohio — If you're hungry for Japanese food and wondering where to go in this hemisphere, you are likely to think of Los Angeles, New York or Honolulu. On second thought, you might add San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto or Vancouver, British Columbia. It's doubtful Columbus would be on any list outside the Buckeye State.
But there's a real discernible Japanese flavor to Ohio's capital, thanks in large part to the 32-year presence of Honda in nearby Marysville, the international pull of Ohio State University, whose Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum holds the largest collection of manga, Japanese comic books, outside of Japan, and Columbus' lively multiethnic vibe, which culminates in an annual Asian Festival drawing more than 100,000 visitors (May 26-27).

Serious Eats on Jeni's:
Columbus, OH: Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream Is The Real Deal

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and I don't generally write about places that specialize in dessert, but over the course of a recent road trip through Ohio, I tasted more than one thing that has convinced me to lift my embargo on sweets long enough to write a post.
