Columbus has a plentiful amount of bloggers. Our food bloggers are extremely insightful and are some of my favorite sites. I was just curious if there were any locals out there that are doing the same thing with movies and/or theatre?

I don't know of any off the top of my head that focus completely on theatre/film (unless I'm forgetting something)...
...but I'd be more than happy to help someone get something started. We get a *TON* of requests to send reviewers to movies, performance art, plays, ballet, etc, and it's always hard to find good people to send. If someone wanted to start a blog, I'd gladly help get them set up for reviews.

I would so love to do that, except knowing me, it would end up sounding just like that John Lovitz character, "The Critic":
"It Stinks!!"
The best I could offer would be extremely insightful and bitter critiques of everything and anything. One of my favorite things that the Criterion Forum (I know, I know, I drank the Kool Aid) does is it's annual "Sad Pandas" list-- films posters have enjoyed that no one else likes. I'd also probably do a "So Bad It's Good" list, featuring movies like Constantine and Stigmata, that were so hilariously bad they are gifts to humanity in these troubling times (I was very dissappointed in Mariah Carey's Glitter, by the way-- I expected SBIG, but instead the funniest thing I saw was this scene where she wears a men's button down shirt tied around her like a halter top).
I might also include a "Film Wheaties" section, revisiting films from the entirety of film production, highlighting especially interesting ones people may have forgotten or that are being re-released.
So... yeah. There's that.

Been kicking around the idea of a "Banned Films" series.
First up on the list would be Robert Frank's great documentary on the Rolling Stones, "Cocksucker Blues"

Any help that you could possibly have, would be fantastic.
I see this incredible cinema and theatre scene in Columbus, that could use some much deserved recognition.
Walker, if you have anything you'd like to share, send me a PM or an email.

There aren't any local bloggers that I know of that cover entertainment like there are for the dining scene. However, the Columbus Dispatch has a theater blog and a movie blog.

+1 to joev's recommendation for wordpress. Easy to set up and get started and easily expandable/customizable.
I'll send you an email with some more information on the connections/requests/etc that I get.
Good luck! :D

What about Kelly Gingery? She's a local blogging on movies and entertainment.

ETA: I guess you were asking if there are local bloggers, covering local movies. Kelly is looking at wide scale release, however she is local.

I really wasn't sure if I was asking for anything in specific. I was just curious of all that was out there.

I'm late (or rather new) to the game here, but in a bit of self-promotion...
Hi! I'm a film blogger now based in Columbus! I moved here over the summer from New York to work on my PhD (in History of Art) at OSU. I started a site back in 2007, while I was a grad student at Columbia to work through some ideas about movies, etc, while in New York. The site got to be pretty popular for a while - got some accreditation from smaller studios (we sort of like art house and experimental film). This year has been slow since all of our writers have been moving, working through graduate school, etc, but I'm re-launching and re-committing the site in the new year. More review-based, and not overly Columbus-y, but if there are any local critics out there who can help me out, please contact me! (I got some names through Wexner curators and have tried to transfer credentials from New York, but no avail yet). And we always like to know we're actually being read!
Here's a link for anyone interested:
