Has anyone lived in or around the Little Rock, Arkansas area? Just wondering if anyone had some insight into the area.

...I saw the HBO documentary Gang War: Bangin in Little Rock and decided I never, ever want to go there. Not sure if that helps.

I've been there twice. I can say with certainty that along with urban New Jersey... it is my least favorite place I have ever been. It was the most blighted, unfriendly set of visits to a city I have ever experienced. The people were extremely rude, racist, and socially and thoughtfully apathetic.
The only good thing that happened there is the most delicious plum I bought from a kid wearing no shirt or shoes at a street farmers stand.
I try to remember only the plum.
It is hard.

LOL! Not the best city, I was there this year. On a positive note, they have a historic downtown street car/trolley and a nice public market on the river.

I've been to Little Rock four times to visit friends . I've had a blast each time. The people have been extremely welcoming, and the city has a lot to offer including the awesome new Clinton Museum and historic sites from the Civil Rights Movement. My only complaint is the heat.

My bands van broke down there once.
For a week.
It was a long week.

My wife lived there for less than a year and when I went to visit her I was pretty suprised at the downtown/riverfront area. This was 8 years ago mind you, but thought the bar scene was pretty nice.

I agree- the immediate downtown is very surprising. The street car-- we don't even have yet. The rest? Well...
