I thought this would be a great way to streamline progress!
The 5 things I want in Columbus are:
1. Streetcar or light rail or other mass transit system
2. Riverwalk shops/cafes/hotels/condos along the Olentangy
3. Rooftop dining--more use of rooftops in general as parks, tracks, green spaces etc.
4. Artist workshops for children at galleries
5. Indoor Extreme All sport/bodywork/adult recreation center

Its too bad 315 runs right up along the olentangy in the vicinity of 5th ave. That would be a sweet spot to do a mixed use development and better bridge the West Bank of the River with the East Bank and OSU, etc.

1.) Affordable homes, rents, and products/services for families, students, people like myself who choose to make a lower income, and generally most people.
2.) More traffic calming (speed bumps, raised intersections, medians, Gay St project, road diets, more hanicap accessibility) to reduce speeding and improve the quality of streets for other others and residents.
3.) Walkable school districts so kids have more conact with the world than outside the school bus window.
4.) More conections between neighborhoods severed by freeways, railroads, natural boundaries. (More Caps over freeways, pedestrian bridges, connections available to all forms of mobility, even cars- remember that plan to build the bridge linking Morse Rd. to Bethel Rd.?)
5.) Bad-ass transit system. Make COTA 24 hours on popular routes. More routes, increased frequency of buses, heated stops with up-to-the-minute updates on bus locations. Light rail in all directions, espicially linking downtown, the airport, OSU, and major employment centers like Rickenbacher, N. 270, Easton area- more seperate path trains than a slow street car.) More taxis available, more pedicabs.
I want multi-modal mobility to be the number one desire/need/result for Cols.

1) the end of the apartheid educational system...equity in education
2) world class recreation and parks department, restore funding for rec centers and park maintenance.
3) a frigging entertainment venue that could hold 250-1000 souls, that isn't corporate and Promo productions....
4) a real college radio station with real independent music...ala KALX in Bezerkely...
5. Green action, not green wahing rhetoric

1) Amtrak service.
2) A coffee shop/grocery store on the west side.
3) An efficient mass transit system; Light rail, streetcars, whatever works.
4) A hockey team that makes the playoffs once.
5) A 6,000 seat arena for college hockey. The Schott is too darn big.

not sure if the carabar can hold 250 or not, but skully's can reach around 600.
it's wierd to always see the alive act like skully's doesn't exist in their articles. not to mention... they were slightly missinformed on some of that windish info they threw out there last time. there are in fact some people talking regularly with them besides the wex. 8)

YES. - I was at the top of Rhodes tower the other day and made that very comment. Roof tops rule and are oh-so city chic.

hmmmm....I dunno how "major" they are.....but perhaps if we didn't develop over important stuff like that and had more respect for the history....
The snake mound is in Ohio, but not really a Columbus thing....

I would say I need 6 choices said very well by Cyclist and Enzo. Kudos! - Cyclist's #5 = Enzo's #1 . IMO
I live on the westside, and I would definately leave my car at home more often if I could ride the rail from near my home to downtown/ campus.
When you live on the westside or in any of the burbs the last bus out of downtown is too early sundays and holidays it's even earlier.
