Looks like they might have outdoor seating also..very nice!

Yep, outdoor seating. I'm sitting on an interview with Danny (from Danny's Deli) who is doing this new restaurant. They're aiming for an April opening, so the interview will go up around the end of March. He doesn't want to jump the gun in case they encounter any issues during build out.

Hmmm- the website site says to join them for breakfast & lunch. So it sounds like ""just another M-F 7am-2pm place downtown."" But it also says they will have a beer & wine selection. Why have beer & wine if you are only open for breakfast & lunch. Seems like with the beer & wine license, you would take a risk and stay open for a later crowd. Sounds like another dark space after office hours.

They posted something last month. I wish they had better hours. It does sound more of the same. Disappointed.

Our patio will seat 60 and open for Happy Hour at the end of April."So lets not make assumptions about hours!

I am going from their earlier internet posting. If they have changed it, that's good news. Putting signs up and posting stuff on the internet then asking Walker to be secretive seems lame. If they are not ready for prime time, then they should act that way. Disappointed from afar, they seem to have too many channels...
-1 (minus one)

Dozens and dozens of new businesses have been opening Downtown over the past few years. Vote with your feet. Vote with your voice. Businesses will stay open late if it makes financial sense.

Putting signs up and posting stuff on the internet then asking Walker to be secretive seems lame.No one was asking me to be "secretive". Just asking to hold off on full blown interview until the time is right. Unfortunately, opening a business Downtown is very difficult and setting an opening date in advance in nearly impossible. Almost every small business owner I've talked to in the past 3 years has missed their target opening date due to unforeseen circumstances with inspections and permit approvals. They have legacy issues working against them in these older buildings and a system in place that doesn't do them any favors for getting open in a timely manner.
The request to hold off was to wait until they were closer to a more certain opening date. What do they have to be "secretive" about?!?

ummm, ok..... (take a deep breath)...
The business in question posted their details on printed signs and the internet (well before opening). I didn't know 'CU hold off's' were protecting this topic from discussion. It would be good to know their hours as they have seemed to have changed them. The devil is in the details.
I think (generally speaking), if you see a sign or internet posting it is fair game....

The devil is in the details.and those details will likely shake out sometime in the next 2+ months before this place opens. dang, why you need it all laid out right this second? If walker's gonna spend his energy giving this guy's business a bump and an introduction, might as well wait until people can actually patronize it, right?

I work in the Chase tower. They had a preview day for us in December, and it seems as though the food will be similar to Danny's. 'll be exicted if they do offer happy hour drinks, as the patio will be a great place to watch the traffic go by. I completely agree with Walker. Maybe businesses will start to reconsider if more people are coming down to Columbus Commons, or any of the potential retail stores that could end up in that area. Until that time no business should stay open if there isn't enough opportunity to profit from extended hours.Side note: They have concept diagrams in the lobby of the building, and it is going to be a very inviting space. I'll be happy to grab lunches, and occassional breakfasts there as well.

It isn't that big a deal. I was just commenting on the details they posted and wanted them to see that I thought later hours is something that a business downtown should try. I am tired of downtown becoming a zombie wasteland after 5pm. They have been putting info out for awhile now (I assumed for some kind of press and maybe feedback). Instead of voting with my feet I am using my keyboard. I want this place to succeed and with evening hours to boot. If they had evening hours I would be there in a heartbeat (as long as the elevator works).
In theory every business downtown could be open after 4, but until more try it (and we support them) nothing will change.

Squashing the rumors!!!
Lexi's will open in April from 7am-3pm.
The patio will open in May and so will the cold beers!
The summer hours for the restaurant will be 7am-8pm, serving beer and wine.
Weekend hours are always a possibility but the demand has to be there!Posted 1 year ago # -
Thanks! ;)

When I first joined CU, I loved the weekly breakfast at Warehouse which was intended to help show some demand around weekend hours. All those clamoring for later hours might want to try something similar and start up some weekly downtown restaurant tours. Different one each week and show some love to those that are open past 4. Drag a co-worker or 2 or 3 with you.

Living downtown- I find the biggest problem with eateries is the inconsistent hours a lot of the them keep when they do try to stay open past the typical M-F 11-3p Places like Tip Top, Mitchells, Due Amici's, Dirty franks etc. all have pretty consistent hours. But a lot of the smaller places who attempt to stay open on weekends typically don't have very consistent hours- Winter hours, summer hours, open this weekend, but closed next weekend, open 7-2 on Mondays, 10-2 on Tue/Wed, 10-4 on Thur. 10-6 on Friday. I think could be a major downfall for them since this also makes it very confusing to any potential customers- especially those making downtown a destination. Having lived downtown for 7 years now-- I still am clueless what stays open and when and am usually shocked when I walk by a place to see it actually open afterhours or on the weekend- only to discover that it is not the next time when I decide to stop in. I guess the only thing you can really count on is that all the smaller downtown places are open 10-2 M-F. But I do have to give a lot of credit to those business that actually take the risk to stay open afterhours/weekends. I know better than half of them play it safe and just do the M-F lunch crowd-- and that is ashame. Some of them could actually do well- with just a little visability. I know I talked with the owners of Plantain Cafe- and I am told that their saturdays (open til 8pm) actual do quite well (even in the winter)- proving it can be done with some of the smaller places that don't have the benefit of a liquor license

Was a lot of fun, but we eventually got burned out on going to the same place every single week. I imagine we could hop it around to multiple places, but I don't know if that would have the same impact if it ends up only being a once-a-month stop at a place. I don't know if that would encourage them to be open the rest of the weekend days and weekday nights throughout the month.
Would love to figure out something that works well though.

Would love to figure out something that works well though. You could encourage people to form "teams" of 4-6 people and send each team to go to a different place and post about their experience. That way you get a few people in lots of places instead of lots of people in one place.
Just a thought.
