Cr0m and I saw this last night, and really liked it. It's a Swedish vampire film, but nothing like Twilight - no beautiful people here. It was beautifully shot and the story was packed full of subtle and not so subtle symbolism. I will link to a few reviews as I don't write movie reviews well and I really need to see this film again; it's so nuanced I am sure I missed a great deal.

It's playing at the Lennox and there is already an American remake in the works. My money's on the original.

AARGH! Shoulda known that Hollywood would get their hands on this. No way it'll be as good, especially if they pussyfoot their way around the relationship between the pre-teen characters. It's not sexual, but the tension is there (I thought).
I liked this movie too, obviously. Sweden totally should've submitted it for the Best Foreign Film Oscar because it's on so many top ten critics lists...

I liked this movie too, obviously. Sweden totally should've submitted it for the Best Foreign Film Oscar because it's on so many top ten critics lists...
The book really dives into Eli and his origins. The movie only has a quick hint of it. Hollywood will probably turn it into another The Vanishing.

i saw this before the holidays... i liked it a lot. it wasn't scary, just unsettling at times... i hate scary movies but would endure one if its supposed to be brilliant. anyway, it was quite good.

I missed the Columbus screenings of this. The last one was at the AMC Lennox yesterday evening. There are other screenings planned for Ohio:

The Neon in Dayton also wants to pick it up, but they haven't announced a date yet.

It will be opening in Athens on January 16th -- next weekend. Anyone interested in going?
