I had an idea about a business/creative type endeavor and ran it by Walker and he said to post it on here. So here it goes and forgive me if it is kind of scattered.
The idea came from a thing I saw that they did in Columbus (I think) where a bunch of people got together and the goal was to create a bunch of businesses in a weekend....something like that. So my idea would be to have a bunch of creative people musicians, artists, etc. come together with a bunch of business minded people..maybe entrepreneur types, people that know more of the implementation of ideas and money stuff that all comes with starting a business. Get these people together in a room and the goal would be to start some cool businesses. I don't know if it would be specific but I am thinking what do we need more of? What does Columbus lack? I always have these cool ideas about great music venues or restaurants but I don't necessarily have the means to put them into action. Maybe it could be a series of meetings over a few months where the first meeting would be a huge brainstorm of what Columbus needs and the second would be getting into groups and the third could be starting to actually implement the plan. What do you guys think? Anyone want to help with this?
Some of my ideas (I admit these ideas are all about music..I am a musician ok? jeeze):
+A great music venue where some how you would have two bands set up at once whether it be two stages or one stage big enough to hold two bands and so when one band was done..the next band could start playing immediately with no lag time (as a musican i hate that lag time..and as someone watching..i also hate it).
+A music venue with live music all day, maybe start with acoustic solo acts through out the day, people that are still starting out playing live and move into more well known acts as the night goes on. And it could function as a restaurant (with actual decent food) in the day and transition into more of a music rock club at night.
+My friends and I were thinking about a music venue with a cool theme like all the food would be fair type food...really greasy french fries, cheesecake on a stick, cotton candy, deep fried....anything? And the decor could be circus-y or what not...something unique that people visit Columbus to see.
