Okay, I have found arguments online for both. Can someone give me a personal opinion. I am considering buying a new TV and am not sure which way to do go. To me, Plasma seems to have a better picture and truer blacks, they are cheaper and the biggest issue (screen burn) has been resolved for the most part. Thanks for the feedback.

LOL, Plasma goes out very fast. LCD last longer and in HD, it has a better picture.

What the... is EVERYONE in the market for a new TV?!

Plasmas suffer more from "burn in" and don't work as well in lighted environments, but have much better blacks. I would recommend LCD unless you will be watching TV in a room that is almost completely dark.
The technology for LED TVs is too recent for me to advise you.

wow, both of the plasma "facts" listed in this thread must be based off plasmas released 8 to 10 years ago. if you go plasma, which i did, look no further than panasonic or samsung. you won't have any worries with the build, quality or picture. burn-in problems on either brand are a thing of the past, and i have four HUGE windows in my living room and have never had a bit of trouble with the picture in a well lit room.

This is all news to me, but thanks for setting me/us straight.

mind you, there's no way i'd buy an insignia or dynex plasma . . .

Those Best Buy Brand tv's actually do get good ratings, but they sure look cheap.
And +1 to modern plasmas resolving any past negative issues and being a good option. Some of the new Plasmas are even very thin, similar to LED.

mind you, there's no way i'd buy an insignia or dynex plasma . . .I completely agree....FWIW I bought a 32" Insignia LCD in '07 and it's complete garbage. Picture is subpar and the trim is cheap plastic. I bought it for a guest bedroom, so it serves its purpose....But I'd never buy a brand like that as my main television or even one in my own bedroom.

I got a 720p Panasonic plasma about three years ago now (floor model at Sears as they were clearing inventory to make way for new 1080p models) and have not had significant issues with burn-in, though I do see after-images "burned in" temporarily at times after turning off the screen, especially if a given image remained in one place on the screen for a long time (e.g., the Rock Meter in Guitar Hero).

Or is the fading with the overall picture, all colors included?
