Has anyone attended this seminar? It is going to be here in August.

There is an intro session tonight (no charge, but there is a marketing aspect you can ignore). It is a great way to do some self study and get out of your own way and improve your quality of life.
It is cold and dreary, I figure why not.
Whenever we're limited in life, there is something—a context or framework—that we are blind to and that is holding that limitation in place. Landmark's technology allows you to create breakthroughs in a two-step process in which you:
• Uncover and examine the blind spots or context holding you back in your life.
• Find out where your current context originated and address it for what it really is.
It is my first time to attend an info session. I figure it will enhance the lessons from the vedas--

I'm not a fan. But you will probably love it!

I am thinking it will help me sort out the Balloon Festival :D

It's a cult and gives me the creeps. They came and recruited at my college and people were crying and having "revelations" and all kinds of craziness. Personally, the whole thing gives me the willies.
But different strokes...

They used to be a thing called Est. and run by a guy named Werner Erhardt. Hit the internet for lots more fun info.

I just spent approximately two and a half minutes researching and found enough to turn me off of ever going to one of these events.

It was big at my college, and I once attended an info session here in Columbus with a friend. The atmosphere was that of a secular tent revival.
In general, I believe their seminars offer useful self-help type techniques, but they can be very very expensive. I had a college classmate who went deeply into debt attending their functions.
And the founder was a former Scientologist who adapted many of the social programming techniques of Scientology in order to create his program --for instance, requiring people to ask permission to use the bathroom as a way of making people subconsciously more willing to take direction.
In sum, I would stay away from it.

I am one who likes to explore. I have read about/studied as many religions, philosophies, etc. I just like to know and see what works for various people. I found this to be something I could see working for corporations or people who already know themselves fairly well and want to use this approach. Just another method/tool kit to help people pull their heads our of their arses, get real, and improve their quality of life. I am in support of ANYTHING that attempts to knit people together breakdown walls to reconnect and make our world more peaceful and harmonious.

"You're lying. You don't love your daughter. You just wanted her to keep away from men because you were rejected by men. You ruined her life, admit it, for your own selfish purposes. If you want to help her now, you can go kill yourself. No, that's not good enough. Get cancer. Make it last for 29 years so you suffer and die."
The woman on the stand bursts into tears--"Yes, I am a bitch," she admits--and the leader of the Landmark Forum, Alain Roth, leans forth in victory on the stage. She has "cracked": a breakthrough moment

Yep, that just screams "peaceful and harmonious"

Noooooo I like to listen to people in real life. You can pick up alot face to face. Like trying a new bar or new workout class. Just exploring and it is not like I lost any money or have to name my next child after any of them

Who wants to bet against me that she even went to the damn thing? Anyone? Bueller? I didn't notice where it was being held, hopefully not Harrison West.

Fuck that bullshit. I evaluate myself through a pretty harsh and honest set of criteria & have already been torn down past the illusory nature of my perceptions. I've spent the last 20 years putting the pieces back together, and I don't need some third party to do that for me all over again.
Enzo, please consider this: I know you're seeking enlightenment or a spiritual awakening; maybe we all are to some extent. And perhaps it sounds appealing to have some guru lead the way and tell you how to go about it. Would that it could be that easy or simple, or something you could just pay for and pop out on the other side, a few grand poorer and a billion times smarter. But when someone tears you down like that (which is a necessary component) you are the most vulnerable you will ever be…AND you will be completely open to being rebuilt in whatever configuration the "guru" sees fit. And of course you'll go along with it because this is the person who told you the "truth" about your real nature and your essence as a person. Don't do it! Why would this person be in this line of work? To help people help themselves? It is a position of ultimate power with the potential to brainwash and manipulate the vulnerable. Think Charles Manson…he took some kids out into the desert, dosed their brains out (and declined to take any LSD himself, unknown to them) and tore them down to their most vulnerable place, pulled back the veil of the Maya (माया)as it were, and then…rebuilt them in a way that suited his own purposes. It's one of the more extreme examples in history, but just think about the kind of power you are granting someone when you allow them this kind of access. Just because someone can tear you down doesn't mean they have your best interests in mind. Change comes from within…be your OWN guru.

I did go to the intro session last night. I went with several other curious folks.
I look at it like doing a restaurant review. Nothing wrong with finding out what this business "serves". If you put a negative spin or are only seeking the negative, you will find just that. If you have a NEUTRAL view, so much less aggravating and easier to move beyond all the drama.

You didn't find out what they serve, you found out what they want you to think they serve...until you write the check. If you're interested in what they serve, you should read the article in the Huffington Post, because it's covering an actual seminar...not the free sales pitch for the actual seminar.

Very good, Blammo! I'm with you. I think enlightenment comes from within, breaking down your own walls, rebuilding something you can be proud of, and the world will follow. For some that's through religion, others a general spirituality not centered around faith in the unknown, but never ever ever should it COST YOU MONEY. That's like "models" that pay for their own books, am I right, Core?
The only money I recommend spending is on some psycho-therapy sessions. Not because I think you're crazy, but because I think everyone, at some point in their life, needs an hour a week dedicated to them. There's nothing wrong with saying, "Hey, I can't figure this life stuff out and I need a hand." Might be better than airing your dirty laundry on a public forum.
Self discovery is a bitch! Everyone always wants to pay for the easy way out. It's why these cult people, along with the makers of diet pills, hair regrowth sprays, face creams with sperm, etc. will always be rich.

I don't believe that you went with a neutral view. I think you went with a positive view, and that you tend to lack a critical eye when it comes to anything even vaguely new agey. Look what you said before you even went:

I don't' believe she went at all. I believe if she had gone, she'd find herself unable to keep from sharing all the wisdom nuggets she had gotten.
Lack of nuggets=lack of attendance.

I am SO not writing a check. I love what I learn from the vedas and other things that teach it is an inside job. However, Blammo you and I both know there are some people who are TIED UP IN KNOTS of fear and anger. What works for some may not work for others, but guess what, if we all end up at the same place WHO THE HECK CARES how you got there. I like to research and do personal studies on people. I know several people who have gone through The Forum and do I think their life is any better than mine, NOPE. I think it worked for them, and they got to where they felt they needed to go. It is all so personal, self study and self awareness is the common thread in any self help, religion, philosophy etc. Aware/awake/etc.
Do I think you should have to pay a ton of money for something NO...however, in our world we get conditioned to believe to really GET OR HAVE something an exchange of money has to happen.
My teacher does not require MONEY, my actions (even if I suck at doing something great in columbus). I am not a carbon copy of him, I take what I learn and if it fits I put it on, if it doesn't it stays in the closet.
I have to say some of the people who got up to talk, I was wishing they would stop talking FOR SURE---but some people just want to be heard especially if they have been carrying around bullshit from their past.
My favorite mainstream person is Eckhart Tolle...A NEW Earth and The Power Of Now...I felt like if the people in that room would spend $20 on those books, it would have a greater impact.
