L.A Metro Local Bus in Columbus?!?!

L.A Metro Local Bus in Columbus?!?!

This might sound crazy, but today when I was driving back from Akron(due to work), I saw a Orange Metro Local buses traveling up towards Cleveland(I-71 & 36). Looked like this one -->(http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Metro_Local_bus.jpg)

I thought it was a new COTA or DATA(Delware) bus from a distance at first. Then as it got closer, I saw on the side: "Metro Local". I googled it and I came up with L.A Metro Local Bus.(SAME MODEL).

Any ideas? Or am I crazy? I should of taken a picture, but at 70 miles an hour, thats kind of hard.

Well I just thought I would share this with you guys.

Yeah, I think the basket ladies are in town. Was just walking around the Arena District and I'd never seen so many grandmas in one place at the same time in all my life. Almost creepy!

I'm a little confused about the basket lady comment having to do with the Orange Metro Local bus I saw yesterday on I-71. I'm talking about a Metro Local bus. The same one that they use in Los Angles California. Unless I'm getting the "Metro Local" logo confused with Cincinnati's Metro? Which their buses aren't orange and don't have the logo "Metro local". Or I'm seeing things on the highway?

Why would it be chartered and driving up I-71? They would of really flew the 40-foot bus, just like this one: http://thetransitcoalition.us/Pictures/NABI-40-footCNGcompoBUS.jpg

to Columbus Ohio for a charter?!? If they did, I would want to meet the person with that money. Unless it came into Rickenbacker, a cargo plane carrying a bus would of made some news.

Oh well, I just thought I was crazy seeing a Orange Bus with "Metro Local" on the side, driving up I-71. I guess I am.

I'm thinking that it was a used bus purchase. I swear that I saw a bus on High St yesterday with the destination on the front that read "Lake Shore Drive". Unless we have built a large lake with a scenic drive recently this was an old CTA bus from Chicago....

About four years ago, while driving back from Maine, I passed a Big Bear truck in upstate New York. This would have been at least three years after they closed, and it was a bit jarring (and nostalgia-inducing).

@ schutz: Was it a COTA Bus?

@talcott: I would of pulled them over. I miss big bear for some ODD reason... Yet is Big Bear really gone? The answer is yes, but do you remember RAX (roast beef place) or Pondarosa? They still exist down in Southern Ohio! RAX left Columbus like 10-12 years ago, yet I was in one 3 years ago.

Sorry, I was thinking that since one of the largest conventions the city has was in town, if it was a charter it would seem plausible.

Really? Well never mind on my statement. 161 (east before 270) is pretty run down. That wouldn't surprise me, now that I think about it.

@bjones7-

I assume that it was a COTA but I didn't get a chance to look at the side of it as I was so surprised by the front. After the LSD destination it did flash to a Columbus location though.

I do miss Rax. I always thought they were better (and by far cheaper) than Arby's. People who have made it to the few remaining Rax locations tell me that it doesn't hold up, so I'm tempted to hold on to my good memories.

I wonder if any of the alligator-shaped water bottles are still lying around my parents' house somewhere.
