My favorite view so far is that by spending a small amount on prevention, we not only improve the quality of lives, but, we save HUGE HUGE amounts of money: whether it be pre-cancer screening (pap/breast, etc), access to contraception for low income families, and std testing (preventing further spread and early intervention) are BIG WINS all around. Not to mention stem cell research....

Not that I have a problem with guns but does anyone else see the disconnect here?

Don't look at me; I've never gotten the whole pink firearm thing. If it sells more guns I'm for it, though... just don't understand it.

The gun thing, pink tools, pink yard equipment, pink Susan G Komen marshmallows... I've never liked the PinkCram of branding. It was one thing to have a color that designated a movement, and then it started to turn into almost an insult. Like, women won't buy hammers unless they have pink handles.

Twixlen- you have no idea how much pink crap people gave me when I was diagnosed. I know that they meant well, but......
Also Rus- I don't think a .22 handgun counts as a gun, not really. No stopping power. I shoot a .40 myself, 14 round clip. That's a gun. And it's black.

It is the same reason that Bud Lite and Coke spend huge money on advertising - they want their brand to be what is most in your mind when it comes decision time. And SGK has been brilliant in having their brand appear in places where people have good associations like the grocery store or Walmart. It is mostly irrelevant how many of a lot of those items actually sell.

.22 is a good training round and can be lethal / dangerous ( ask Robert Kennedy, Ronald Regan, etc. ) but it's hardly reliably incapacitating.

Did the members of the local Komen board resign? I hope not. Maybe they simply supported the core efforts of the organization, however uninformed, and then realized they were supporting a group that had a clear political agenda which is in contrast to their own? You know, that can be pretty embarrassing....

Yeah, I know there was quite a bit of pressure on them to do so. I just hope they don't start a spin campaign that attempts to absolve their prior support.....sure, it could be bad for business, and its always good to be one step ahead, but there's no need to overreact
