I would imagine something like this could be effective on a lot of Columbus streets. There is a small buffer, but it is separated by a short, concrete post every 30' or so allowing cars to enter driveways and even parallel park within the bike lane. The concrete post, however, might be subject to damage from snow plows, but it's a good for deterring cars from going into the bike lane unless they want to do some major body work.

The short concrete bollards are a hazard to both cars and bikes. If separation is a priority, maybe a low curb would be enough. A driver would know he/she crossed the line and would be able to correct without losing a tire. This is typical in Copenhagen. If not a curb, maybe a strip of grooves like on the edge of interstates that warn drivers they're crossing the line...

yeah that bike lane with concrete posts, bikes going both directions, and cars parking in the middle of it looks hideous. What did that poor paper man do when he was traveling opposite traffic and the car pulled in to park/drive in the bike lane?

I imagine the cars would be moving pretty slowly to park in that bike lane - I don't think the bikes would really be in any danger. I sort of liked the idea that you could still provide on-street parking but allow it to mostly be a bike lane. Obviously, it would be better to have a dedicated bike lane, but I could imagine this has usefulness in places where businesses claim that some on-street parking is needed.
It appears the bike lane is wide enough to allow bikes to still get around any parked cars safely.

I don't see any reason to design a system where cars intentionally enter, occupy and leave a bike lane. seems to defeat the purpose. adding concrete bollards would be a nightmare.

I agree that the flexible, reboundable, delineators or a low mountable curb are better solutions. I didn't suggest any kind of concrete post or a low concrete post.

I would prefer bike lanes on each side of the street, with bike lanes going the same way as traffic lanes. As to concrete or other separations between the bike lanes and traffic lanes, I would point out that a Mansfield cyclist was recently killed by colliding with a metal bollard on a bike path. Also, allowing parking in the bike path forces cyclists into the traffic lanes and defeats the purpose of the bike lanes.
Incidentally, we should be focusing on street crossings at river, freeway, and railroad crossings, overpasses, and underpasses.

Nope. I am referring to improved access to the Olentangy Bike Trail from King Avenue. I would think that it would include north bound access to the Olentangy bike trail, but I really have no idea.

I'll admit it, I overlooked access issues in my post. However, it doesn't appear that the straightening of Cannon would affect any additional work that Columbus would want to do near the bike path.
A simple way to get north/south bound access on either side of Cannon Drive would be this:

I was on King Ave today in Grandview and the road is repaved, but the temporary(?) yellow lines are offset as before.
