My daughter Jennifer who is a Freshman nursing student at BGSU has started a very nice site to help to promote the public awareness involving childhood cancer. the link is http://www.freewebs.com/kidscancercrusade/ I think that it is amazing and she has about 130 kids on it(5 countries) with their stories and links. This is her passion ever since she became great friends with a little girl by the name of Christie Thomas and her family from Tiffin, Ohio. Christie passed away this past September 19th from Neuroblastoma at the age of 9.
She is now committed more than ever to do what she can to help these children. She sends out little gifts and care packages to them with the money that she can raise thru her site from the sale of shirts and cards that some of the kids have designed. She also has some folks that are kind enough to donate stamps as well as money. Many of the kids from her site participated in the "Hats for Heroes" At the Blue Jackets game on Saturday night. Some of the kids were selected to do such things as drop the 1st puck, ride the Zamboni, be stick boy, announce different promotions during the game and so on. The joy that was shown on their faces was priceless.
I am trying to think bigger for her as the site is growing constantly(13 new kids added last week alone) and she will not be able to keep up with things eventually on the financial end.
I am looking to put together a golf outing in the Spring or Summer to help raise funds. Also; proceeds from the sale of my AP Books will go to her site until further notice. If anyone out there has any suggestions; please throw them out as well.
