What are some good scooters I should look for. I don't really want one of those trendy vespa looking ones, just more of a normal cool looking scooter. I think I am going to buy one here in the coming month.

I like the Yamaha Zumo a lot.
That is what I am talking about, those look great. Now to find one for a decent price. I might have to go check a yamaha dealer today
i just biked by the Kickstart location - there is obvious demo work going on inside, but it looks like there's aways to go. it's a huge space, and if they have access to the garage door space behind 4 Winds it will be great for a repair shop.
Ashland - if you want Italian but don't want the classic Italian steel body and look, you can always go with Piaggio (manufacturers of Vespa) and save some $$$ over the actual Vespa nameplate

These guys relocated to North High Street, just across from the Clintonville Giant Eagle.
Those Bajaj's are pretty sweet. A two-stroke Zuma would be pretty fun too.
I am totally in the market for a scooter.
I only work 3ish miles from home and can get there on mostly residential streets so I've been interested.
Today I pull my outta gas SUV to the pump and threw $25 in it....and got...6 gallons. So that's 90 miles for $25 as compared to 90 miles for $3.50 on a scooter.
I'm interested in advice!!! I know I need 150cc at least as I am a husky boy and gotta go 45mph on one street for sure.
Kinda fun, this is shaping up to be the "summer of two wheels". Or if anything, maybe people will appreciate 2-wheelers a bit more by the end of the year.
Sorry, I have no scooter info to share as I don't own one. You'll have to get a motorcycle license to legally operate one though…so don't count a motorcycle out of the realm of possibility.

That is exactly my goal for this summer!!
we've almost completed renovations on the scooter service area and should have that open in about a week for sales. the shop is both coffee and scooters, but for licensing the scooter shop must be isolated. the good part is that means we can get the scooters out and start selling any day now.
i just put up a banner over the instyprints sign and we'll be giving away t-shirts during gallery hop, but we can't actually sell for another week.
we're carrying the lambretta line-- which is very sharp looking.
stop by or email me if you have any questions.
i tried to post here a few weeks back, but had to get authorization first; then i was too busy and forgot. i try to check here once in a while, but my internet time has been severely curtailed since i quit working for the man.
i'm excited to see some buzz about the shop; it should be pretty cool.
As soon as we close on our new house, I'm trading in my Honda Civic and getting a scooter. I'm embarassingly uncoordinated and unmechanical, though, so we'll see how it goes.
well im looking for a used 4 stroke 50cc scooter that i could ride legally without getting the motorcycle license. ive found many on craigslist for under 500 bucks. with gas rising, im not driving that truck anymore than i have to. it gets 9 mpg and im over it.
Stopped by during the Gallery Hop. http://www.thekickstart.net/
Looks like they'll be carrying Lambrettas and Diamos.
The Honda Metropolitan is really cool
dear people who like scooters.
i also liked scooters. i rode one for a while and felt the little boost in power of a cool looking vintage motorcycle would be great.
Don't rule out something a little bigger if you want 2 wheels. If you test drive and you feel like you're almost topping out on a normal street, imagine how that will feel 3 months into riding. Also, you can find some very cheap via the craigslist route, and many are easy to work on.
You will need a license either way, so i would love you to have something that is a little more powerful and can get you out of an iffy traffic situation if need be.
thanks for listening.
I agree with daniel, if you are looking at scooters, you should also consider a small motorcycle (under 500 cc).
The additional cc does make a big difference when you need to power out of a dangerous traffic situation. Plus, the larger wheels are better at dealing with ruts and potholes that could throw you off of a scooter.
The biggest difference is the seat. On a motorcycle you have your legs wrapped around the bike, which give you much more control and ability to stop fast.
or better yet - get both!
I saw one of these turn the corner in front of me the other day in Valleyview (Valleyview? Who knew!?!) - it absolutely blew my mind! This thing is so cool looking, especially in real life:
Yes, it has two wheels in the front in a slick sliding parallelogram design- three wheels.
