During the holiday weekend, some friends and I went kayaking down a river. It was a lot of fun, and I think it could be a great way to get some exercise. Does anyone in the forum group kayak around the downtown area? If so, what are your experiences and tips? Is the Scioto too nasty to go out on?
Also, living in a condo, it would be difficult to store a kayak at my residence. Is there any way around that problem?

Put lights inside it and hang it from your ceiling.. If anyone asks, tell them it's a sculpture.
Srsly, no storage or garage space at your condo?
Also up for kayaking or canoeing but I don't own one.

Well, that would mean I would have to take down my blow up girl chandelier. My wife has let that slide, so I don't want to rock the boat.
But really, I do have spots in the parking garage and storage both, but it's dinky and I don't really want to store a stinky wet boat in there. As for storing it in the parking area, I don't think I can get that by the condo board. J
Just wanted to see what options I have before I try to get into it.

This is a bit of a longshot, but there are several rowing clubs in Columbus. They might rent out boat storage.. You can always check around.

I don't know what type of kayaking you're referring to, but my friend and I used to play around in the Olentangy and the Darby in rodeo boats (I had a Mr. Clean, I can't remember his). If you're referring to a flat-water kayak, it'll be harder to store it, but you can definitely do it with a hoist up to the ceiling as was mentioned earlier.
You can definitely play around in the Scioto. We used to kayak up the Scioto for Red, White and Boom. But, there's no way you'll see me roll the kayak intentionally in that river.

I was out on my Kayaks last Friday. A group of 4 of us traversed the very northern portion of Scioto River in Delaware County. It was a good ride and the weather was beautiful.
Side note for ALL KAYAKERS: the city seems to be cracking down on Kayakers. Make sure whenever you go out on the water that you have both updated decals AND your boat registration cards with you. I was stopped the other day, and thats what the ranger guy told me. He said having the registration was just as important as the decals, its more likely you'll get a ticket if you don't have your papers on you. Luckily I had all my stuff so it wasn't a problem, but just be forewarned!
