Yesterday, Governor Kasich put a price tag on the lease proposal.
He wants 3 billion for a lease, seems like a bargain compared to what Indiana received, but it does not mention how long of a term it would be.

I don't like these deals much because I don't think politicians are capable of using a windfall responsibly over a long lease period. If it's a short enough lease (5-10 years), it could be okay, but at a price of $3 billion, I'm sure it's much longer.

Compared to Indiana, Kasich is probably talking about a 30 - 50 year lease, but again I don't know.

Why don't you go apply for the job?
Aldi's starts cashiers off at around $10-12 not quite that $20 but not minimum wage either.

Really, you are going to try to play that card? Toll booth operators are more than cashiers too ... they have guided me to many places off of their exit for a meal or a spot to see so they act as tour guides too.

So how do these lease deals work? Would the State get all the money upfront or spread out over time? It sounds like it's all upfront. If so, then Kasich would be doing the same thing Strickland got slammed for by the Republicans: using one time funding to fix a budget hole. Anyone have details?

Some on this thread have an obvious disdain for working class and others who aspire to join the middle class. They think that since taxes pay for public salaries then they are in the drivers seat and can extract as much from "their" workers for as little as possible.
Yes, toll both workers get paid decently. Shouldn't they? How much should they get paid? What is a fair wage? (I know I used a heretical word - fair!) If their managers didn't allow them to get so much overtime then more would have to be employed... and there are budget cuts so it's cheaper to pay the overtime than hire another person. Most toll workers I have encountered like their jobs and are happy to help. I doubt that would be the case if they got paid the same as the fry guy at some fast food joint. Besides, if we had malcontents at the booth, it would be one more thing for some to complain about.

I know you're being snide, but it's not so much "open the middle class to the unworthy" but "why should that job rate $20 an hour?".
Maybe it's reasonable, maybe it's not, but at first glance it seems high for unskilled labor. As in someone will do the same job for less money.
Unless you're calling for people to not question their government, just shut up, pay, and be grateful it's quite reasonable to ask such questions.
Heck, let's go full tinfoil: Maybe democrats prefer to pay unskilled labor overly high wages to establish a voting block.

I believe when Indiana did it, it was cash all upfront for the 75 year term.

You're right, serious restructuring of the way Ohio operates must take place for this to happen. If it doesn't, it's not worth it.
