Smokin' Joe was a great athlete and a great guy, and it's too bad for him that he was portrayed as a cartoon villain and foil for Ali. May he RIP.

Growing up my dad loved Smokin' Joe and hated Ali almost as much.
I think because my dad was a smaller guy, blue collar worker he could relate to the under dog.

My mom taught his grandchildren. She's crushed. Cancer has taken several members of that family far too soon.
