DIY ethic, timing build Velio’s area restaurant empire

Since 2008, Velio’s restaurant empire has expanded rapidly. In concert with various partners, he has opened Jimmy V’s restaurants in Dublin and Westerville. This summer, he will open one in Pataskala.He bought Otie’s in Hilliard and the Westerville Grille in Westerville, and he turned the former Whiskey Ranch in Gahanna into the FM All American Bar and Grille. He acquired the Burgers, Dogs and Fries restaurant in Upper Arlington last year, although it is now being run by a relative. And between 2009 and 2011, he invested about $400,000 to revamp the Michael’s Goody Boy in the Short North, a restaurant he’s owned since 2000.
Launched in August 2010, TheMetropreneur.com is a local online resource devoted to small business development and entrepreneurship. Its aim is to tell the stories of Central Ohio's business community, foster regional economic development and assist entrepreneurs with its resource-heavy focus.
