I guess one of the owners posts here from time to time, I was just wondering about expansion plans, I mean with a product this good, I would be speaking with every PE firm in town (since local shops are already aware of how good it is) looking for some money. Are they possibly looking into franchising to spur growth, or just looking for funding from various private sources, etc. to me this is all I would be doing, because there is absolutely no question in my mind, Jenni's will be very big if they choose to be, and they are sure to be multi multi millionaires in the near future.

Saturday night...
...the line was wrapped around the building
...at 10:30pm
...in November
...everyone in line was wearing a coat.
A site to behold! Jeni's definitely doing something right!

It was also Gallery Hop and getting into any food place on that night can be fun.

Gallery Hop or not, selling ANY Ice Cream in November is quite a challenge. Sounds like they're having no problems keeping busy during the cold.

Jeni sells in Dean and Deluca as well. I doubt she will franchise. No need. She is a great success all on her own. I have heard rumors of a German Village location as well as possibilities of Bexley and Clintonville. How exciting! Bring back the lemon with blueberries :(

I'd be a little scared of "superspeed expansion" or franchising in Jeni's case, as it seems ice cream can be a pretty damn fickle industry.
Now, I would (if I were to backseat manage) definitely look at continuing to push hard at the wholesale of the product to areas where I don't have stores yet. Get the foot in the door by creating a clientele via specialty stores who love your product before you even open a shop there.

I would love a German Village location. Between Jeni's and Pistacia I would be in absolute bliss.

I'm with Core. I'd rather have them stay at home in Columbus and ship across the country. What fun would it be to bring out of town visitors to a place that they've got in thier own city? ;)

Just FYI, and you'll probably hate me for this, but they've got a few flavors of Jeni's at Cup O' Joe.

Yeah, and I wish they'd change them up. There's only so much Salty Caramel I can handle.

Re: Lemon & Blueberry - It will be back in the spring early summer. It's one of Jeni's Favorites - especially paired w/ Dark Cocoa Gelato. Yum. (tip - stay tuned for Creme Fraiche w/ Amarena Cherries in December, as well as Kentucky Bourbon Egg Nog. We're also looking for a supplier for Montana Huckleberries to make Lemon & Huckleberry. The huckleberries grow wild in Montana and taste like super intense blueberries).
Re: German Village - In addition to Cup-O-Joe, you can also pick up a few flavors at the Global Gallery on Whittier now.
Re: Other expansion news - there's a rumor flying around about Jeni's in the Bexley Gateway. It's true! We have a ton of customers from Bexley so this is a good fit. Likewise the developers and the city of Bexley were very hospitable.
Re: franchising - We've had some requests in other cities and even within Columbus. It's a balance of quality control and speed of expansion. It would be nice to serve more areas - especially when customers specifically offer to franchise. If we can't guarantee the high level of service and product then it's a bad idea. Balance is key, I think.
Re: Multi-millionaires. Wow that's a lot of scoops! Right now we're focused on paying off some credit card debt and keeping up with diaper supplies. Yikes!
Thanks for all your support!!!!

If MoJoe installed cots or bunk beds on the patio then I wouldn't have had to rent an apartment.

Sounds like this is still up in the air then. Let me know if this is the expansion method you choose, as I or other members of my family would be very interested.
