Saw them setting up this afternoon. :D
Who's planning on braving the heat?

I will be able to swing by tomorrow for a late lunch. If I could only choose one rib burner, which one should I choose?

A coworker & I will be schlepping over at some point today. I remember last year - in the same location. It was a hot day, but it was fully 10 degrees hotter in line for ribs. I can't imagine the guys manning the grills. *Are these ribs extra salty?*

I just got back from lunch there. I definitely like the location better but...yeah...it was like walking around hell only if hell were a giant rib shack, like Beelzebub's Barbecue or something to that effect. Hot and sticky doesn't begin to describe what those lines are like.

We went last year early, shortly after they opened and it worked great! No lines, no heat and we were ready to go by noon! Whole day left, FTW!

I'm going on Sunday. I'm also hoping to hear which stands are the best before I go :)

We went to lunch down there. I felt badly for all the folks in denim. Appropriately dressed, with a cold lemon-shake up in my hand, and I was fine & dandy.
Oh - don't get the beef ribs from Desperado BBQ. Coworker got them & there were *terrible* - grisle, fat & what little meat was on them, was tough.
The pulled pork & sauces at Famous Dave's were great. And their cornbread is excellent.

You can't go wrong with Porky's!

Looking forward to Sunday as a "critic" judge

Honestly, it sounds like this would be *the* weekend to go to your favorite indoor restaurant to get ribs. Probably lower traffic with people at the festival *and* you get the A/C. ;)

Next year, I think the Jazz and Ribs Fest should rebrand to the Jazz and Gazpacho Fest. Gazpacho is a much better food for July weather.

I always try to make it down for good eats.....
Can anyone tell me which are the best stands? It's difficult deciding when they all have a gazillion trophy's and flags:)Posted 1 year ago # -
try here
http://www.hotribscooljazz.org/NEW2010/PastWinners.htmli think they need bigger trophys

FWIW, if I went I'd probably NOT go to anything I could get locally any other week.

Is any of the BBQ better than Ray Ray's?
I had ribs at Comfest from a guy who claimed to be an 'award winner' at the Jazz fest and was very much disappointed.
