I saw this live, and I honestly thought the guy was dead.

if you stop it at the exact right second you can see his body bent completely in half, he broke a vertebrae

He wouldn't be up walking 20 minutes later if he broke a vertabra.
He was officially diagnosed with a bruised lung and a broken wrist.

thank you for correcting that person. he actually showed up for a lil bit at the x-games yesterday walking with a cane. i have to say when i watched it live, my heart stop b/c that was the most insane fall i have ever seen watching the x-games in the past few years. he was very lucky b/c it could of been a lot worst. i have a lot of respect for these guys/girls who put their bodies on the line the way they do at x-games.

The tvs at Bar Louie Friday evening kept playing that clip over and over for hours. At one point, I think the whole bar was watching and you could hear a collective groan when he hit the ground. OUCH!!

it's the big air competition.

that's why they called the x games. broken bones are nothing to these guys. all have several. but one has to wander where the line is drawn. i mean are they going to start biking thru mine fields and and racing down the "devil's backbone" (for you cheesy airborne movie fans)
all in all, i give the fall a 95.50. wickedly sick gnarly dude.

yep..its a big air competition. i'm glad you corrected that person on that. if that person watched the entire x-game series, he would of saw that they had the street skateboarding competition as well as the Vert competition in which Shaun White took home his 1st gold in that event. he had a hell of a run. so, they still do have the skateboarding that we are use to seeing that Hawk and the other guys have been doing for many years.

I was also watching this live. I was kind of half asleep watching it and immediately sat up when it happened. I can't believe he walked away from it. Back in the day I used to watch a lot of those skater crashing videos, and that is by far the worst fall I've ever seen.

exactly... its turning into more of an "evil knievel" type event. that dude could have died had he fallen a different way... i think that big air event is stupid. just leave it at street/vert and call it a day.
btw, i was mistaken when i said "america" corrupted skateboarding. really, its the media.

skatebaorders turing into stuntmen??? when exactly did you tune into the sport. Every extreme sport is exactly that. Once you add the progression of the sport for the duration it has been around it's bound to happen. when people began to ski ther ewas no long jump, downhill slalem, or the extreme sking that goes down these days where they grind and ride halfpipe. It's just natural progression mixed with what us viewers want to see. It is their job and without progression the career will enevitably die.
As for the fall it was hard to watch for someone that would participate in a similar genre of sports. The way his shoes popped off from the fall was just sick. However it also show the dedication these guys have for training and also the strength of the extreme sport body. I was honestly more scared when the other guy almost went over the back of the deck. the sport itself is crazy, but that is what makes us watch it.
