i was bored at work and came across this article, which is a little over a year old, about how jacksonville, florida is using columbus as a case study, if you will, on how they should improve their downtown. i just thought it was kind of neat how another big city, especially in florida, picked our city to compare them to. like i said, it's old news, just thought i would post in case anybody has any interest or gets bored.

I would argue that the only similarities Cols. and Jacksonville have are population within the city limits, but even Jacksonvilles is based on the county-city consilidated jurisdiction.

Cool article. For some reason I thought Jacksonville had a larger population than that. I do know that it's supposed to be largest city in total area, in the country (excluding Alaska). They must have huge issues with commuters living way the hell out in those far off suburbs.

They have such a large land area because the city and county are the same legal jurisdiction. Its 885 sq miles as opposed to Cols. 210 (I think).

The article looked like a Columbus-ite blog.
According the article Columbus has a BRT. I liked that they noticed the numerous mega-ads draping our buildings blank facades. Cheers also for not writing another article about how "quaint" German Village is. I don't even think they mentioned OSU in it which is a great sign of getting rid of that dorky college town label.

Thanks for sharing the link. Always fun to read an outside opinion of what's going on in our own city. :D
