^That's because frozen custard is gross.
Coming from someone who is boo hooing about delicious cake inside of delicious ice cream makes me wonder if you've got something wrong with your tastebuds. ;)

Can we all just agree that frozen dairy concoctions are good and just move on with life? Seriously, there's plenty of business out there for everyone. I was recently at a graters at 10:30 pm and it was *packed* with people. Every time I go to jeni's there's a line out the door and sometimes its out the door and down the street.
I'm sure they'll all keep doing just fine because, lets just face it, products made with frozen milk and/or cream are awesome and people can't get enough of 'em.
Dammit now I want icecream.

Everyone who had icecream (jenis, whits or otherwise) last night after reading this crave-inducing thread raise their hands.
mmmm....chocolate flavored coating....
Scooping now. Goat cheese and cognac figs. Love Jeni's (and Whits, and Graeters, and Cold Stone, and UDF and etc.)
Stopped in today to check out Whit's. Good stuff. Kids enjoyed it. I had the Oreo Whitser (Blizzard) and would definitely order it again. A nice option for when you want something comforting like that and still want to go with the local option. Nice addition to the Short North.
I see them as 2 different niches within the ice cream realm. Whit's seems to provide the traditional (chocolate, vanilla, banana splits), while Jeni provides the experimental (cognac fig and goat cheese).
I don't think Whit's will lower Jeni's prices. Has Graeters had any affect on Jeni's? Probably not. So let's just have them both flourish and leave it at that.
Graeter's has increased their prices in the past year. Probably not the influence you were hoping for. :)
