$500. To start. Not really good or bad I guess, depending on the difference between the models.

iWork and iLife are nice. And 3G is the big deal for me.

$499 is a good price but its a steep increase to get the 3G ($629) and thats for the smallest memory option of 16Gb. Its $829 for the 3G model with 64Gb.

Whose going to be the first here to say they are definitely getting one? :)

Not me. It's clear now that this device is not meant to replace regular computers. Looks like I'll have to save up for a MacBook after all.
ETA: good summary from the Apple Blog:
The iPad, if I try to look at it dispassionately, is essentially a media player that’s too large to carry around comfortably in your pocket, too small to be preferable for movie viewing to your TV, and could even represent a significant recurring money drain if you get 3G service. It’s an e-reader, yes, but by and large, people aren’t yet really lining up to get at those.

I'll convince work to buy me one whenever they get jailbroken.

From Gizmodo:
"There's an iPad data plan to fit your needs: $14.99 for lighter months and $29.99 for those who experience heavy data flow."

Underwhelmed here too. 3g was nice, except AT&T 3g coverage is awful. I read since it's unlocked, you could get a data plan from another carrier and plug in their sim card and not depend on AT&T. No multitasking seems a bit strange too. So I'm expected to do more on it, closer to a netbook, just 1 thing at a time?

This looks like a step in between my laptop and my iphone.
And I'm not really seeing the point in that.

I have no complaints about my coverage here in Columbus either, but it's not like AT&T has had a awesome reputation with the iPhone so far. Would have been a good opportunity to break up with them.

wait 6 months, and these will be down to $300

As a hybrid laptop and iPhone it might not do so well.
As a full color open-architecture non-proprietary alternative to the $600+ Kindle DX, on the other hand, it may have potential.

"Just yesterday I was looking at my iPhone thinking "Hmmm, I wish this thing didn't fit in my pocket and couldn't make phone calls." Then I looked over to my netbook and couldn't help but feel it would benefit from losing the keyboard and being made of 50% glass.
Finally apple gives me what I wish."
