Well, maybe according to Steve Jobs it does... though some ambitious developers might take issue with that soon.

I wonder if people wouldn't consider that a shortcoming of the iPad?
:)
Apple is so paranoid about showing a little titty that certain fashion magazine publishers are now reportedly referring to their ipad-ready product as "the Iranian version"
So, no National Geographic on the iPad?
That was a pretty wierd interaction. It looks like Job's ego is as big as ever. I am a little suprised the gawker blogger chose to post this though. He was visiting Rome and didn't know there are assigned seats?
the ipad already kind of sucks, why make it literally suck less?
Flash, porn, cameras, externa storage, SIM memory and no stinkin' iTunes

Uh... I didn't read the whole thing, so maybe I'm missing something... but it sounds like what Jobs is describing is more of "freedom from porn apps" and not a total device content filter, right? It doesn't sound like the ipad has any sort of web content filter, right?
So you can't install some sort of third-party porn "software", but you can still surf whatever you want on the web.
I don't really see this being much of a complaint for too many people.

except Pulitzer prize winning cartoonists and magazine editors who are having trouble trying to meet strict content restrictions apple is trying to apply to app design. It's laughable to try to apply such ridiculous standards (CU would likely not meet them because of the "ridicule of public figures" bit) while at the same time trying to sell their platform to the publishing industry as some magic platform that will 'save the magazine industry' with for-pay apps.
this very short article nicely sums up the hilarious situation:

I was referring specifically to the porn access issue, and not the larger closed-system development platform.
But on the flip side...

I'd like more porn. I'll stick with my 8 year old desktop.
