Tablet PC? Been there before. Screen gets damaged and you are screwed.

Will the darn thing have wings?

If I can migrate data from my old iBook to a new iPad, I'll probably get one.

Has to be the worst name for an Apple product ever. Name fail.

Is it more absorbent than the ibook?

Pretty underwhelmed so far...just seems like a giant iPod touch.
But I'll reserve judgement till the press conference is over.

Really haven't seen anything to be impressed by yet. So far it's just a big iphone.

But I'll reserve judgement till the press conference is over.Yeah, No OSX, slower processor. For me to bite, it's going to have to be competitively priced with a Kindle, what I would mostly use it for - and that seems really unlikely.

As of now, I'm somewhat impressed, but still waiting for the big picture. Other sites have said that it's confirmed from Jobs himself that the price will NOT be above $800. For this to work, I think it's got to be in the $400-650 range. Much higher and people will still just buy Macbooks, despite the added portability. My understanding thus far is that while the specs are being summed up as the lovechild of a iPhone and Macbook, the intended purpose is a third technology altogether, not a compromise of the two.

Yeah, they haven't mentioned price yet....not a good sign.

No OSX is a dealbreaker for me... period.
Smart on their part to merge a what is functionally a netbook with a Kindle, though, and to do it in a form that is (arguably) ideal for both. Going with epub is not a good sign for Amazon's proprietary format.

Apple Store isn't down either. May not see this for a few months.

That iBooks app looks snazzy, and is going after kindle's heart.
Still no price announcement.

The 3G stuff without a contract is kind of a big deal. More so than anything else they have announced IMO.

The no-contract 3G data plan is nice... $30/mo unlimited... except for being through ATT.
