International Flights from Port Columbus

I came across this story in courant.com.

Northwest Airlines started daily flight to Amsterdam from Bradley International. Here's the Wiki on Hartford:

What I don't understand is why ... Why Bradley can get daily flights to Amsterdam and Port Columbus can't. Port Columbus is offering some nice incentives for airlines to step-up and offer these European/Asia flights.
My question is why do you think Columbus is having difficulties in this area?

...it sounds like we're trying pretty hard to get Ryanair service. Seems like a really good fit.

I'd take it anyway we can get it. Sad, though, that none of the US carriers are stepping-up to the plate.

I'd guess that it's easier to get to Boston and New York City from Hartford than it is to get to Chicago, Detroit or Pittsburgh from Columbus. The international flights have to work both ways, and Hartford is almost certainly a more-appealing landing pad for Eurotrash than CMH would be because you can get up and down the eastern seaboard from there.
Here, you can't even catch an Amtrak without going Greyhound first.

It's not like there is a shortage of international flights to/from Boston or New York. I'm sure they do fine without the single daily flight from Hartfort to Amsterdam by Northwest. This seem like a flight crafted for the citizens of Hartford. It must have been one hell of a deal Bradley International offered Northwest.

Also, Skybus seems to be working on flights to the carribean. Not exactly Europe, but still International, and cheap.

Wow, thanks, not sure how I missed that, but Jesus if this happens I will be in the carribean at least 3 times a year. Starwood points and Starwood Amex greatest things ever invented. Take weekend vacations for 200 bucks or so.
