I was hoping someone had some good suggestions for interior lighting stores. I'm looking for a new dining room chandelier / suspension light. Not looking for the tradition kind though, something more modern or classic. I realize I could try the national retailers (e.g., Crate & Barrel, West Elm) but I was looking for a local lighting store.

Collier West has some great things. There is one incredible wooden cylinder light I think you would like. There is a really good lighting store on 3rd just before spring (can't think of the street), you can find some great stuff at the Heart of Ohio antique mall and the two on the next exit as well. There are a few booths that specialize in mid century modern furniture that have nice lighting from time to time. It's always a fun day there anyway, you're bound to find something.

bernard electric is at the corner of 3rd amd chestnut. they have a large showroom. another good place would be capital lighting on polaris or panic lighting on hudson and 71.

Love Collier West....have purchased a number of lights from the store. Also, the folks at Bernard Lighting are very helpful. You might not find what you are looking for on the showroom floor, so carve out a little time, make an appointment and have the bring out the great design lighting books. That's where the good stuff is.

Collier West and Northern Lighting (http://www.northernlighting.net/) When I first moved here they did 60% of the lights in my home. There is also a killer light at the Roche Bobois store the Murano glass one in the front window that I covet.

I had problems finding lighting for my 1890's home that I liked in the Columbus Area stores, so I ordered from SchoolHouse Electric (www.schoolhouseelectric.com), they have more traditional to vintage industrial lighting and they can doi custom lengths and they have great customer service.
