A Columbus gathering to build understanding and provide relief
Stop by to meet a Columbus man who founded a non-profit to aid his people in Haiti, hear from a local eye-witness to the earthquake, or learn some Haitian-Creole expressions that will give you insights into the culture. Light refreshments provided, additional food and alcohol available for purchase. In addition to two guest speakers providing brief remarks, reps from five different NGOs will be on hand to talk about their efforts (disaster relief and long-term) and to collect donations in any amount. These include: CARE, Hand to Hand Haiti, The Haitian Timoun Foundation, Shelterbox, and The Sporting Chance Foundation.
If you haven't made it to the King Lincoln District -- which is in the throes of revitalization -- this is a good opportunity to meet like-minded people in a fun neighborhood for a good cause.
