I was recently in Indy and stopped at a starbucks. I got out of my car looked up and I saw this:

What's up and how can we get one funded privatively?

I'm not a big fan of putting people up in the sky or underground. We need more people on the ground first before we start stacking our traffic. I think the end result would just shuttle people over top of empty sidewalks.
We could have our very own Detroit Person Mover, except in Columbus and with slightly fewer muggings.
We should go from Upper Arlington to Mt. Carmel and then to OSU's medical Center. .... The Columbus Golden Buckeye Mover

Sorry, that would actually be useful :-)
I tend to agree with Walker. But I do admire the fact that so many other cities seem to at least be able to build something.
i enjoy the mass/public transit debate that people like to strike up for columbus, but i'm going to side with walker also
we need more things going on, more places to go, more events in town that force people to get together, rather than just worrying about peoples commutes to work

Did the city of Indianapolis have a hand in building this? I haven't done a whole lot of research on it, but I assumed that the medical center build it, since it's really just a medical center tram.
I do imagine the equivalent would be an elevated tram loop at OSU's medical center. Not really going to do a whole lot of good for the general public, and while I'm sure it might be a booster for the nearby healthcare industry attraction, I don't know how much diversity would be involved in the type of economic development something like this could spur.
Exactly Walker. This people mover thing in Indy is just an entity to move people between the different downtown hospitals: Wishard, Riley Children's, Methodist, the VA Hospital.
I wouldn't really call it an urban transportation system. I would hope something like that would connect real sites in the downtown; e.g. New Colts stadium, Conseco Fieldhouse, Mass Ave. Bars etc....

Regardless it shows how the private sector could help our streetcar system get off the ground. Quite frankly I really just want to see a vision for the future of Columbus and Ohio in general. We need an Obama of Ohio!
