Give us a try... our coffee is delicious, we have fresh pastries from Pattycake, ABC cookie, Bakery Gingham and Eleni Christina bakeries, Hand picked organic teas, and a clean, upbeat, casual vibe.

Caffe' Apropos at W. 3rd Ave. & Michigan Ave. is a very cozy spot. Great coffee and eats. Their chi tea with soy milk is my favorite in town. Plus, if you don't feel like coffee drinks, they serve wine and beer. Not sure if it's on the menu this year, but last winter I had the mulled wine. It was very, very good, perfect for a cold, snowy day.

Cafe Brioso - Gay and High (this is a damned good one)
Staufs - Grandview ave on the bank block
Cup-O-Joe/Mojo Lounge (now owned by staufs several locations)
Kick Start is indeed good.

Little know fact... Cuppy's is now a mom n pop shot. I heard that the parent company went under that they were a franchise of, so now they're an independent.
I'm also partial to the shops over here in my neighborhood:
http://www.urban-spirit.com
http://zanzibarbrews.comBoth are great, but I'd say Urban Spirit is "cozier" although Zanzibar has longer hours.
Brioso downtown is always a good spot too.
And as a disclaimer: I don't drink coffee. So I'm talking in terms of ambiance and not in terms of which coffee is better than other coffee. ;)Posted 3 years ago # -
LUCK BROTHERS
can't believe I forgot Luck Brothers! 1st ave just off northwest blvd next to the old bag of nails.
Very good place.

My God! Are you Mormon or something? :)
I'll second Cup o Joe's. There are several locations, but they're all very neighborhood oriented and the company is locally based.
I prefer the coffee at Brioso, but hours are limited, and it has less of that "coffeehouse" feeling.

Victorian's Midnight Cafe @ 5th and Neil, just west of the taco truck. Great corned beef and hash and they used Stauff's-I think. Bonus to the fact that they serve alcohol and have a handful of open mic nights through the week and other performances. Last time I was there, there was a "for sale" sign on the window. Don't know what that was about.
Warehouse Cafe on 5th St. downtown, just north of Spring and just south of the fire station and Abbot warehouse. Very cozy. Good, cheap breakfast options that, with coffee, run about $6 and under. They also serve the (in)famous Albanian Pannini. They serve Crismon Cup, if I am not mistaken.
Buckeye Donuts on Campus, right by the Wendy's around High and 17th/18th. There is one I have heard about in the German Village area. Great donuts, 2 chocolate raised and an uber coffee were a great way to start off a morning class.

Very good place.I'll second that, I think they have the best espresso in the city. Plus, they host coffee tastings monthly via http://www.meetup.com

Brioso, Luck Bros and Yeah Me Too are the only ones worth their beans. There are many places that will give you that neighborhood feel but meh on the coffee. If you are OK with meh coffee and want an emphasis on cozy, maybe give a part of town you are frequenting? I'm not a big fan of the actual coffee at Cup O' Joes or Stauf's but I suppose they have a nice atmosphere. Kickstart is continually improving but still has a way to go and not sure I would ever call it cozy.

Vic's "for sale", eh? Well, someone's got to pay the IRS.
I love, love, love Luck Bros. cappuccinos. The best in the city.
I love visiting Kickstart and seeing LaChewla :D

Kafe Kerouac also has good used books cheap. On the topic of Kafe Kerouac, its owner, Mike Heslop, recently did a really great article for LifeEpicurean on one of the roasts KK carries. I was going to post it as news on CU when Mike submitted it to us, but wasn't certain if it'd be relevant.
If anyone's interested in reading it, the article can be found here: http://www.lifeepicurean.com/?p=1697

I have a coffee shop map. Might be useful

I really miss the 24 hr coffee shops in the 90's. Especially Insominia, but also those other weird ones on campus that kept changing their name every 6-8 months. Sure they were fronts for drug dealers (or so I heard...), but that was just part of their charm!
That said, Victoria's does rock.
