An 80's-themed festival would be an awesome idea. Specifically, Huey Lewis and the News and Genesis.

This also doesn't sound any different than comfest with headliners and without vendors to be honestLooking at it another way though... the major issues with Comfest include how big it has gotten, and ever problematic issue of who makes the line-up. A music festival, especially if it had a local/regional slant, might fix both of those issues. Comfest wouldn't need to play the role of Columbus' music festival anymore, and it could shrink a bit without leaving local bands without a summer event.

To be fair, Comfest could disappear completely and there would still be plenty of summer events to keep good local bands going - Parking Lot Blowout, Agora, Go West, Independent's Day, Urban Scrawl, etc.

There's going to be a MAJOR announcement at the Six Gallery show on April 24th (@ Ravari Room) on exactly this topic. Be there!
