But it makes for better pictures. Lots more tagging and burned things.
Can someone please call a zombie movie studio already? I know the perfect location.

what a mess
looks like the exclusion zone around chernobyl.
If someone around here is from Detroit and missing a taste of home, I'm sending them there.
The should let Ozzfest make a return to Polaris for old times sake.
That's a great stage for some post-2008 performance art. Be sure Central Ohio won't get it, though.
They should hold a Gathering of the Juggalos there
and then fire bomb it.
Wow. Looks like the remnants of a Lamb of God concert.
What do you think the chances are of a run in with the cops. I'd really like to stop by there and take some pics.
Maybe the owners of this property should allow some sort of temporary outdoor street art display/event take place. Could be a cool "venue", something totally different. What would it hurt. The place is in shambles anyway. I'm sure there is some liabilty there with the deterioration and potential hazards but it could be mitigated and made safe for visitors.

From the looks of it, very little.
Yeah I think very little, I have accidentally driven into the parking lot 3 times cause I tend to make my left turn 1 street early when visiting some family up there, I have never seen a cop or anyone, and yeah judging from those pics I'd say you could have a fire and roast some hot dogs before anyone even noticed you.

There are cops that patrol it during the week at daytime. I'm sure no one is there at night, though. My 2 weekend photo trips have seen a homeless guy (sleeping) and another photographer, plus some stray dogs & deer.
They should turn that into an all-year-round haunted carnival....
Is this still worth five million dollars?
The city should use funds from the casino taxes to buy Polaris Amphitheater, pay for it's upkeep, and offer it rent free to bands. ;-)
I thought the whole reason it was shut down was because the community didn't want the noise anymore? I don't think bringing music or entertainment back to that site is in the cards.
I believe it was shut down due to it's struggle with landing bands along with weak ticket sales. While noise complaints were common I don't think that played a part in it's closing. But weak tickets sales and not being able to fill the venue with talent shouldn't stop the city from dumping money into it, the precedent to help such businesses has been set with the Blue Jackets Nationwide Arena deal.
/Sarc about actually putting city funds into Polaris Amphitheater.

If you dig back into the Dispatch archive you'll find the owners also made some (hilarious in hindsight) remarks about the land being too valuable to use as a music venue when they could sell it to developers and make mad cash.
cue "sad trombones"
I used to work at one of the offices that's next to that space. Couldn't hear a thing, not even Ozzfest, in our parking lot, but had a marvelous time placing bets on how long it would take for people to sober up enough to pick up their cars the next day. Shame there's nothing happening there at this point BUT the drinking.
