Anyone looking forward to this one? I've been following it for a bit now and it looks pretty good. It's based on the book of the same name for those who don't know, and apparently has been adapted onto film twice already.
Also, the first 5-7 minutes of The Dark Knight will be attached to the IMAX version of this film. I'll pay just to see that :D

The Omega Man is a 1971 science fiction thriller starring Charlton Heston. The movie is based on Richard Matheson's 1954 novel, I Am Legend.

1. If it's Vin Diesel this movie will suck.
2. The guy playing Hitman in the new movie looks the part, although mostly for the shaved head...

I could definitely see Statham in that role, he's probably the first that would come to mind.
Along the same lines, you could also think about Vinne Jones
Or maybe a *slightly* less physically imposing actor, but with much more twisted psychological acting...such as Julian McMahon (guy from Nip/Tuck)
or even a Hugo Weaving or Gary Oldman
Fun to think about...who knows who they'll pick.

Now that you mention it... I guess they were vampires.
I just love the house he had set up... and how Charlton would play chess by himself.
It was so much to think about when I was thirteen. All alone with nothing but a game of chess to yourself, vampires out the window, and a hot black lady.

You're remembering a lot of what makes this a cool story and character study if done right...and the whole twist of why the title is what it is...also really interesting if done right.

I just hope they don't ruin the psychological part for some modern hollywood bullshit. I hate that.
They totally fucked up Willy Wonka.
The key is in the subtle qualities. Not making them more animated and dramatic.
Subtlety is underrated all around.

I saw this last night and was pretty impressed overall. The third/final act was a letdown though, compared to the great first half.
Good:
- Will Smith (I'm not a big fan of his movies, but he's a solid actor and again delivers in this movie)
- The shots of a post-apocalyptic New York (This is where the CG shines)
- Some great well storied and tense scenes (The movie needed more of these though)
- And of course The Dark Knight 6 minute prologue shown before the movie was badass!
Bad:
- The zombies/vampires (This is where the CG doesn't shine. Where was the money from the $150 mil budget at for this? C'mon now!)
- Hurried third/final act (The tension and cleverness that made the first half so great was gone)
- The ending (It was said that they had to do a re-shoot for the ending just a month or two ago before the movie opened. Yeah, never a good thing)
- Easton's IMAX (It sucks ass! The screen isn't a true IMAX screen and the film was off centered the whole entire time)
